To strengthen the security of your account, you can set up two-step verification (also known as two-factor authentication or 2FA) as explained in Setup two-step verification. Once you set up two-step verification, a verification code is required in addition to your Adobe password. You can choose to receive this code on your email address or mobile phone. Alternatively, you can also use an authenticator app, such as Adobe Authenticator or Google Authenticator, to generate a verification code.
Your email is the default method of verification unless other preferred method is selected.
If you have chosen another method and want to receive a verification code on your email address, follow these steps:
After logging in with your Adobe ID password, you are prompted to enter a sign-in code sent to your mobile phone number.
Check your mobile phone, and enter the sign-in code in the two-step verification window. Then, click Verify Code.
Alternatively, you can enter the verification code generated by Adobe Authenticator in the sign-in prompt.
Some older products do not support code-based two-step verification. That is, you can't use a verification code sent to your mobile phone or email address. To use two-step verification for these products, you must use an authenticator app such as Adobe Authenticator or Google
Once you have set up two-step verification, sign in as follows:
- In the Email address field, enter your Adobe ID.
- In the Password field, enter your password, followed by a colon (:) and the code from the authenticator app. For example, if your password is
abcdefand the code generated by the authenticator app is 667788, enter abcdef:667788 in the Password field, as shown in the image below.
- If you did not get the code, wait for some time as it can take a few minutes for the code to be delivered.
- If you chose to get the code through email, check your spam or bulk folders for a message from firstname.lastname@example.org.
If you still do not receive the code, select Use another method to receive the code to generate the code again.
Even if you haven't activated two-step verification, you could be prompted to authenticate your account through a code sent to your email address or phone number. This authentication happens after sign-in attempts that do not conform to patterns of your normal usage, and helps keep your account secure.
To confirm that the sign-in is being done by you, and not someone else, enter the code sent to your email address or phone number.
A CAPTCHA (for Completely Automated Public Turing test to tell Computers and Humans Apart) verifies that the sign-in is from a human and not from an automated computer program (bot). A CAPTCHA displays a challenge that humans can solve but computer programs cannot. For example, you could be shown several images and asked to select the images that have a vehicle in them. The CAPTCHA is displayed before you can sign in to your account.
The CAPTCHA on the sign-in and the sign-up pages uses the re-CAPTCHA service from Google.

If you cannot access your authenticator app (for example, you do not have access to the device on which you downloaded the app, or the app was uninstalled from the device), follow these steps:
You have successfully uninstalled the authenticator app from your account. To reinstall the app, follow the steps explained in Authenticate via Time-based One-Time Password algorithm (TOTP).
