The error: "There is a problem with Generator. Please quit Photoshop and try again. If the problem persists, remove any third-party plug-ins or try to reinstalling Photoshop." may occur when launching Photoshop or using Generator related functions.

Solution 1

Photoshop keeps a log of Generator activites. The folder where this log is stored may not yet be created and it's creation may be prevented by permissions or other factors.

Manually create this folder so that Photoshop may be able to create the necessary log files. Create a folder named "Adobe Photoshop [Version]" (ie "Adobe Photoshop CC 2017") in the following location:

  • Windows: C:\Users\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\
  • Mac OS: /Users/[Your User Name]/Library/Logs/Adobe/

NOTE: The Windows AppData and Mac Library folders are hidden by default. To find these folders, please see the following:

Solution 2

Remove the Reflow generator plug-in, which is installed by Edge Reflow.

To remove this plug-in, go to the below location and drag the reflow-generate plug-in out of the Plug-ins folder:

Windows: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CC 2015\Plug-ins\Generator

Mac OS: Applications\Adobe Photoshop CC 2015\Plug-ins\Generator
