Redesigned Files panel

Learn about all the changes in the Files panel in Dreamweaver CC 2017.

The Files panel is redesigned in Adobe Dreamweaver 2017, and some of the features that you are used to working with have been moved or redesigned.

The Files panel now shows you exactly the options you need depending on where you are in your workflow (for example, none of the server workflow-related buttons are visible if no server is defined).

Read on to understand the changes to the Files panel with a few before and after snapshots to guide you through the changes.

If you are yet to define a site in Dreamweaver, the Files panel provides you with just a list of files in your system, and highlights the Manage Sites option to prompt you to define your site.

For more information on defining a site, see Set up a local version of your site.

After you define a site, you can see your site folder structure and files in your Files panel.

You don't see much else, because you still have to define a server. For more information on defining server connections, see Connect to a publishing server.

Merk:

By default, Dreamweaver only displays the list of files and folders within your site. For more details, such as notes, file size and type, and change details, right-click the Local Files toolbar and select the options you want displayed.

After you define a server, more options appear in the Files panel.

The Remote and Testing server drop-down lists appear, as do other options that allow you to connect with the remote server, sync files, and put and get files.

If you enable check-out while setting up your servers, then the check-in and check-out icons are visible as well.
