Acrobat desktop app
January 2023 release
The following new features are introduced in this release. Click > to learn more about the feature.
The Acrobat modern viewer now includes the All-Tools panel in the left pane instead of the Discover panel. The All-Tool panel provides a seamless experience that facilitates the easy discovery of Acrobat tools without users having to switch contexts.

Currently, the new experience is being rolled out as an experiment and available for Acrobat (64-bit) English locale only with no third-party plug-ins installed. The feature may not be available to all users.
Acrobat's Share files tools are now redesigned to be consistent with the Acrobat web interface. To share a file, select the respective icon at the top right corner of Acrobat to Share document, Get Link, or Send by email.
Once you've shared the file, select the share tool to get more options like Copy link, and Unshare file.

Acrobat now allows you to send a shared file via email.

Acrobat now prompts you to Share a file if you use any of the following tools and save the file:
- Edit a PDF
- Organize pages
- Combine files
- Redact a PDF
- Add comments
This feature is rolled out as an experiment and is not available to all users.
Variant 1

Variant 2

Earlier, when you select the sticky note annotation and click anywhere in the document, a sticky note is added instantly, even if you haven't entered any text. Multiple clicks result in multiple sticky notes being added to the document. In this release, Acrobat detects a blank sticky note added and removes it.
Acrobat deletes the empty sticky note in the current session and will not delete any empty sticky notes that were added earlier.
Acrobat prompts you to provide feedback if you discard the changes after using the auto-adjust layout mode in the Edit tool. Your feedback helps us to understand the intended workflow. To provide feedback, select Share Feedback and then fill out the feedback form.

Adobe Acrobat (Pro or Standard) and Acrobat Reader desktop apps now support consistent viewing of PDFs protected by Microsoft Purview Information Protection (MPIP) for Microsoft Sovereign Cloud tenants (like GCC-High, DoD, and more). In addition, such tenant users can apply and edit Information Protection sensitivity labels and policies to their PDFs within the desktop version of Acrobat (Pro or Standard).
Acrobat now allows you to restore an unsaved document you've been working on in case of an application crash or freeze.
The Acrobat plugin in MS Outlook now provides you option to edit a PDF in Acrobat. You will see one of the following options.
This feature is rolled out as an experiment and is not available to all users.
Variant 1: Edit a PDF option from the PDF attachment dropdown
When you receive a PDF in your Outlook mail, select the PDF dropdown, and then select Edit in Adobe Acrobat to open the PDF in editing mode in the Acrobat desktop application.

Variant 2: Edit a PDF option from Acrobat menu
From the Selected Messages dropdown list in MS Outlook, select Edit Selected PDF. The PDF opens in the Acrobat desktop application with editing mode.

Variant 3: Edit a PDF option from the pop-out email view
When you pop-out an email in Outlook, select Edit Selected PDF, and then choose the PDF to open it in the editing mode of the Acrobat desktop application.

Acrobat now supports stickiness and seamless reading experiences across devices. You can now resume reading a PDF document on the Acrobat mobile app from where you have stopped reading in the Acrobat desktop app by simply scanning a QR code. You can find the option in the waffle menu in the upper right corner of Acrobat.

Upon scanning the QR code, if you don't have the Acrobat mobile app installed, you'll be directed to the Play Store or Appstore to install the app. If you've already installed the Acrobat mobile app, you can seamlessly view the document.
