Masking in Lightroom

Easily remove noise from images using AI-powered Denoise

(Desktop only)

Reducing noise from your images just got easier with AI-powered Denoise. You can now enhance photos taken with high ISO settings by eliminating noise efficiently. With this addition to the Detail panel in Lightroom, you can now reduce noise automatically and manually. 

Poznámka:
  • Denoise is currently compatible only with Bayer and X-Trans mosaic RAW files. 
  • Denoise isn't supported when applied along with Super Resolution.
  1. Open a compatible file in Lightroom and select Edit > Details.

  2. Select Denoise. Lightroom will automatically detect and remove noise in the image using artificial intelligence.

  3. Once the preview is generated, adjust the Denoise intensity using the slider. You can also select and hold the preview to view the before and after versions.

  4. Select Enhance to create a DNG version of the selected image. The new DNG file is stacked with the original image.

Make crisp edits using the new Masking enhancements

(Desktop only)

Starting with the April 2023 release of Lightroom, you can access two new categories in People mask to make crisp edits to specific parts of facial hair and clothes in a photo. 

  1. Select the photo that you wish to enhance using the People mask.

  2. Lightroom will automatically detect people in the image. You can then select the person to make specific adjustments to.

  3. Select Facial Hair or Clothes, as required. The Facial Hair mask can be used to edit the beard and mustache.

Make precise adjustments with Point Curve

You can adjust the tonal range of a photo using the Point Curve tool, now available in the Masking panel. Moving a point in the top portion of the curve adjusts the highlights, the center of the curve adjusts the mid-tones, and the bottom section of the curve adjusts the shadows.

  1. Select an image and then select Masking > Create New Mask.

  2. After you've added a mask, select Point Curve to make local adjustments.

  3. Select and drag the line to make uniform adjustments in the selected photo. 

You can also use the Masking tools to make specific editing adjustments to your photos.

Improved video features in Lightroom 

(updates in Lightroom desktop and Lightroom for mobile (iOS) only)

Edit your videos to perfection and export them like a professional. You can now Extract and Export frames from a video in Lightroom. You can also try Auto and B&W modes to enhance your videos. To trim your videos quickly, you can access the Trim icon on the lower-right side of the video timeline. 

To extract a frame, you can try the following steps:

  1. Once you've edited the video and identified the frame that you want to extract, right-click on the screen. 

  2. Select Save Video Frame. Alternatively, you can also select Export > Current frame

New in Lightroom for mobile (iOS) - You can now access the B&W button to edit your videos in Lightroom for mobile (iOS).

Use Adaptive Presets to add a professional touch to your images 

Adaptive presets are a great way to quickly enhance your images. You can now access a new set of Adaptive: Portrait presets like Polished Portrait, Enhance Clothes, Darken Beard, and more across Lightroom desktop and Lightroom for mobile (iOS and Android).

Try out new adaptive presets on mobile devices, including iOS and android.

Other enhancements

Lightroom on desktop

  • With this release, we are excited to introduce Content Credentials in Lightroom as a Technology Preview experience to millions of Adobe creative customers, with access to several features and workflows. Content Credentials are optional sets of attribution, edit, and historical details that can be attached to an image during export. These details can help authenticate the source of images available online.
  • You can also access the Copy edit Settings button at the lower bottom of the screen in Loupe and Grid view. 
  • Resize the Filmstrip as per your requirements. Also, manage Help and tool tips dialogs by turning them on or off, as required.  
  • Performance improvements in the Crop, Pan, and Zoom functionalities. 

Lightroom for mobile (Android)

  • To return to the previous adjustments or versions in an image, you can use the Undo, Redo, Versions, and Reset options on top of the screen. 
  • This release has added support for the Filipino and Malay languages to Lightroom for mobile (Android). 
  • Use the three-dot menu in the Gallery view to organize and view the options.
