Seamlessly remove unwanted spots using Content-Aware Remove

(New in Lightroom desktop and Lightroom for mobile)

Starting with the October 2022 release of Lightroom Desktop (version 6.0), you can achieve the best editing results by practicing ultimate image control over your photos. The new Content-Aware Remove tool in the Healing panel lets you remove unwanted spots and objects in a photo by sampling content from other parts of the photo.

The Content-Aware Remove tool is known as Remove in Lightroom for mobile (iOS and Android).

Remove blemishes and unwanted spots from the photo by following these simple steps:

  1. Select the photo you want to retouch. In the Healing panel, select Content-Aware Remove. 

  2. Define the Size and Opacity of the brush to make a selection.

  3. Click and drag the brush over areas you want to heal using the Content-Aware Remove tool. Lightroom will analyze and fill the selection with best-suited generated content from other parts of the photo. 

    Alternatively, if you wish to manually change the sampled area that is selected by default, you can:

    macOS: Cmd + drag an area on the image while a Content-Aware Remove spot is selected.
    Windows: Ctrl + drag an area on the image while a Content-Aware Remove spot is selected.

  4. To remove all the adjustments made using the controls, select the Reset button from the menu.

Automatically select people, objects, and background in a photo

(New in Lightroom desktop only)

Reimagine editing with the new Select People, Select Objects, and Select Background masking features in the Masking panel. Quickly edit specific parts of the body (including skin, teeth, eyes, etc) and also make precise adjustments to one or more objects in a photo. 

Poznámka:

Starting with the October 2022 release of Lightroom (version 6.0), you can also use the Mask Amount Slider in the Masking panel to make overall adjustments to the edits made in a mask. 

Select People

Select People in the Masking panel lets you make precise adjustments to one or more people in a photo. You can also use this mask to edit specific parts of the body like skin, eyes, lips, teeth, etc. Follow the steps below to try out this feature in Lightroom:

  1. In Lightroom desktop, open the photo you want to edit. Select Masking > People.

  2. Lightroom automatically detects all the people in the photo. You can select the person in the photo that you want to make adjustments to.

  3. You can select specific parts of the body like hair, skin, teeth, etc, and enhance only the selected parts.

  4. Click the Masks panel. Select Add and/or Subtract masks if you wish to add more or subtract from the mask. 

  5. Use the editing sliders in the right panel to make adjustments to the selection. 

Select Object

Enhance the objects in your photo! Select Objects lets you make adjustments to one or more objects in a photo. 

  1. In Lightroom desktop, open the photo you want to edit. Select Masking > Objects.

  2. Do one of the following to make a selection:

    • Brush: Roughly brush over the object you want to select.
    • Rectangle Select: Make a box over the object you want to select.

    Lightroom will analyze the object based on your selection and automatically create a mask.

  3. Click the mask in the Masks panel. Select Add to further add areas to the selection or Subtract to erase areas of the automatic selection. You can use any of the masking tools to do this.

  4. Use the editing sliders in the right panel to make adjustments to your selection. 

Select Background

In addition to the Subject and Sky masking features, you can now automatically select a background in a photo and make complex adjustments to the selection. Use the Background mask to make a one-click selection and use editing controls to achieve the desired results. 

  1. In Lightroom desktop, open the photo you want to edit. In the right panel, select Masking > Background.

  2. Lightroom will run an analysis and automatically select the background for you. You can view the selection as an overlay (red, by default) and a mask is created in the Masks panel.

  3. Click the mask in the Masks panel. Select Add to further add areas to the selection or Subtract to erase areas of the automatic selection. You can use any of the masking tools to do this. 

  4. Once you're happy with the selection, use the editing sliders on the right to make local adjustments.

Easily compare photos while editing them

Enhanced support for Presets

(New in Lightroom for mobile)

The October 2022 release of  Lightroom desktop (version 6.0) and Lightroom for mobile (version 8.0) introduces new smart presets to the Premium presets collection. You can now access the Adaptive Presets to make adjustments to people, including skin texture, teeth, etc.

  • (iOS) Adaptive: Portrait, Sky, Subject
  • (Android) Adaptive: Sky, Subject
