Share your AR creations

Learn how to capture an image or a video and share a link to your AR experiences using Adobe Aero.

Share your AR Experience as a link

Sharing your Aero experiences as a link lets anyone with a supported mobile device try your interactive AR creations lightning fast with Aero’s lightweight App Clip (iOS) and Instant App (Android) player (Coming Soon).  Viewers will not need to install an app to view content you share.

Engaging with content this way can be more immersive than watching a video and allows your audience to participate in and contribute to the experience themselves.

Update your Experience

When you share an Aero experience, Aero shares the experience as it exists at that time. After you share the experience you’re free to continue making changes to the experience without changing the shared version.

If you’d like to apply any changes you’ve made to the experience after you’d shared it, you can do that through the same share menu in either the Aero iOS App or Desktop Beta. Open the share screen and tap or click on the Apply Changes button. Aero will update the shared experience with your latest changes.

Viewing an AR link shared from Aero

Using compatible iOS and Android devices, viewers can open an Aero experience directly without any additional software using an iOS App Clip or Android Instant App (coming soon).

Viewing AR with an App Clip

When a viewer on iOS opens your link or scans your QR code and they don’t already have the full version of Aero installed, their phone will display an App Clip card, asking if they’d like to view your experience.

Aero App Clip Card

Clicking on this card will launch the Aero App Clip. While your AR experience loads, viewers will see a launch card which displays the experience title, author, and thumbnail.

Once the experience has loaded, your viewer will be able to place and experience your AR creation.

Viewing AR with an Instant App (Coming Soon)

When a viewer on a supported android device opens your link or scans your QR code, Aero will immediately launch as an instant app. While your AR experience loads viewers will see a launch card which displays the experience title, author, and thumbnail.

Once the experience has loaded, your viewer will be able to place and experience your AR creation.

Recipients of a link will not be required to log in to view an experience in AR but they will be asked to accept camera permissions so that they can use the camera capabilities for AR on their device.

Once Aero mobile (iOS) is installed all links will open the automatically in the app.

Viewing without App Clips or Instant Apps

Viewers using devices that don’t support App Clips or Instant Apps, will be prompted to install Aero (via the iOS or Android app stores) to view the experience. By doing so, they will be able to access all the AR features in your content.

Sharing an AR link as a QR code

QR codes can help your audience to launch AR experiences by simply pointing their camera at the code. This means, they do not need to receive or copy a link on their device through other means – they can make use of the image right in front of them.

A QR code is an image that allows a camera to read data from a picture. With Aero, you can generate a QR code of your link and share it digitally or print it out.

Triggering a shared AR link using a QR code

The Camera app on any iOS device can be used to scan QR codes. Direct your audience to open their Camera app and then point their camera at your QR code. When the QR code is picked up by the camera, your participant will be prompted to open the link.

Tips for Success when sharing your creation as AR

AR is a new medium to many people and it helps to account for several factors so your audience can succeed with your content.

Preparing content for many different physical contexts

By default, recipients can explore your creation with full control over physical setup, lighting, timing, and viewpoint.  This is often a major advantage, but can also create challenges for both you and your audience. It helps to think about the various situations your audience might be in when they discover your experience as you create.

Helping your audience to install Aero mobile (iOS)

Today Aero mobile (iOS) is the only place where all of Aero’s content features are supported. When you share an AR link or Behance Project, it can be helpful for you to tell your audience that you need them to install the app to see your content.

Guiding your audience in AR

You can use a range of techniques to guide or restrict how participants situate or interact with your content if your content works best in specific conditions.

Examples of guidance

  • Share links to AR with supporting media, videos, and text to help convey how the experience works. For example, Behance Projects can contain photos, videos and text alongside your AR content.

  • Create printed QR codes to help your audience trigger their experiences from the real world.

  • Use printed or digital image anchors inside your experience to ensure that your content is always grounded on a surface that you have authored.

  • Add 2D and 3D guides and messages to your experience to orient the participant’s attention to where they should look or interact.

Recording a video or taking a photo

Explore an alternative and simple way to share from Aero. Your audience will see exactly what you recorded as you can control the physical context, lighting, voice-over and camera angles in your frame. When sharing a video, you choose the path through any interactive behaviors in your creation yourself. If you only need a single image, you can also take a photo.

Take a picture or record a video

You can record a video from both Edit and Preview modes. You can interact with your creation as you record the experience:

  • Under Edit, it is as simple as Edit > Export > Record video
  • Under Preview, tap on the record to start recording a video. You can interact with your creation as you record the experience.
  • You can capture an image only from the Preview by clicking the camera icon.

The photos and videos are automatically saved to your iOS Photos app. You can share the photos and videos from the iOS Photos app to text message, social media, or any other iOS connected app.
