Software License Agreement reappears after you click Accept

 

Issue

The Software License Agreement (SLA or EULA) reappears after you click Accept when launching a Creative Suite 5 product.  

Solutions

Solution 1. Install the Adobe Creative Suite 5 product from a new user account.

Occasionally, a user account becomes corrupted and prevents the installer from accessing or creating the necessary files and folders. Create an account with administrative permissions, log in to it, and then rerun the installer.

Solution 2. Verify permissions to the Adobe database files.

Adobe folder permissions

Set the permissions for Adobe folder correctly. Verify that the following users and groups have these permissions:

Windows

  • Administrators (Full Control)
  • SYSTEM (Full Control)

Mac OS X

  • User (Full Control)
  • Group (Full Control)
  • Everyone (Full Control)

Adobe folder locations

  • Windows 32 bit:  \Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\
  • Windows 64 bit:  \Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\
  • Mac OS:  /Library/Application Support/Adobe/

For information on verifying permissions, select your operating system below. You need the folder permission and location information below to complete the steps.

Verifying permissions by operating system

To complete the steps below, you need the folder location and permissions from the solutions above. Use the links to obtain the information where necessary. In the example below, Adobe PCD is the folder name used. Replace the folder with Solutions folder name.

Mac OS X 10.5 and 10.6

  1. Using Finder, navigate to the folder to modify.
  2. Control+click the folder, and select Get Info.
  3. Expand the Sharing & Permissions section.
  4. Click Details to show the various owner and group options.
  5. Click the lock icon in the lower-right corner. Enter your administrator user name and password when prompted, and click OK.

  6. Set the permissions according to the Folder Permissions section in your solution. 

  7. Click the Gear icon, and select Apply To Enclosed Item.
  8. Close the Get Info dialog box.
  9. Launch the Creative Suite 5 application.

Windows Vista and Windows 7

  1. Choose Start > Computer.
  2. Choose Organize > Folder And Search Options, and click the View tab.
  3. Scroll to the bottom of the Advanced Settings section, and deselect Use Sharing Wizard (Recommended).
  4. Click OK.
  5. Using Windows Explorer, navigate to the folder to modify.
  6. Right-click the Adobe folder, and choose Properties.
  7. In the Attributes section, deselect the Read-Only option.
  8. Click Apply, and then click OK to close the Confirm Attribute Changes dialog box.
  9. Click the Security tab.
  10. Set the permissions according to the Folder Permissions section in your solution. 

  11. To change the settings, follow these steps:

     

    1. Click edit

       

       

    2. If the User Account Control (UAC) elevation prompt appears, follow the instructions to accept it.
    3. Make the necessary changes.

    1. Click Edit.
    2. If the User Account Control (UAC) elevation prompt appears, follow the instructions to accept it.
    3. Make the necessary changes.

  1. Click Advanced.
  2. Click Edit, and accept the UAC elevation prompt if it appears.
  3. Click the Owner tab.
  4. Select Administrators.
  5. Select the Replace Owner On Subcontainers and Objects option and click Apply.
  6. Click the Permissions tab.
  7. Select the Replace Permission Entries On All Child Objects With Entries Shown Here That Apply To Child Objects option.
  8. Click OK, and then click Yes.
  9. Click OK, and then click OK in the Windows Security dialog box.
  10. Click OK to close theAdvanced Security Settings For Adobe dialog box.
  11. Click OK to close the Adobe Properties dialog box.
  12. Launch the Creative Suite 5 application.

Windows XP Home

  1. Restart Windows in safe mode:

    1. Press F8 before Windows starts (when you see a message such as For Advanced Startup Options).
    2. Select Safe Mode from the list of startup options.
    3. Safe Mode appears in each corner of the desktop.

      1. If Safe Mode doesn't appear in each corner of the desktop, then repeat steps a-c.

      2. If Safe Mode does appear in each corner of the desktop, then log in as administrator of the local machine.
    4. If a dialog box indicates that Windows is running in Safe Mode, then click OK.
  2. Proceed to the Windows XP Professional step 5.

Windows XP Professional

  1. Choose Start > Control Panel.
  2. Double-click Folder Options, and then click the View tab.
  3. Scroll to the bottom of the Advanced Settings section, and then deselect the Use Simple File Sharing (Recommended) option.
  4. Click OK.
  5. Using Windows Explorer, navigate to the folder to modify.
  6. Right click the Adobe folder, and choose Properties.
  7. In the Attributes section, deselect the Read-Only option.
  8. Click Apply, and then click OK to close the Confirm Attribute Changes dialog box.
  9. Click the Security tab.
  10. Set the permissions according to the Folder Permissions section in your solution. 

  11. Click Advanced.
  12. Click the Owner tab and select Administrators
  13. Select the Replace Owner On Subcontainers and Objects option and click Apply.
  14. Click the Permissions tab.
  15. Select the Replace Permission Entries On All Child Objects With Entries Shown Here That Apply To Child Objects option.
  16. Click OK, and then click Yes in the Security dialog box.
  17. Click OK to close the Adobe Properties dialog box.
  18. Launch the Creative Suite 5 application.
