FrameMaker provides multiple ways to create documents. You can start by creating a blank document or create a document using an existing template. If you want to create a document that doesn’t require a strict structure, then you should explore the standard templates shipped out of the box in FrameMaker. However, if you want to create a document that requires a structure (like a report), then you should explore the structured templates in FrameMaker.

Create a blank document

  1. Select File > New > Document.

    Alternatively, press Ctrl+N.

  2. In the New document dialog, specify the basic page layout as Portrait, Landscape, or Custom.
