Versions affected 2018 release of Illustrator CC
Operating system Windows and macOS

When you export your artwork as PNG files, Illustrator always exports the artwork in 72 ppi, regardless of the resolution you specify. This issue occurs only when you enable the Import Previous Settings And Preferences option in the Creative Cloud desktop app while updating from a previous version of Illustrator CC to the October 2017 release of Illustrator CC.

Solution 1: Reset Illustrator preferences

To resolve this issue, restore Illustrator preferences to their default settings. For details, see Set preferences.

Solution 2: Run the script: PNGResolutionReset

  1. Download PNGResolutionReset.zip on your computer:

  2. Extract the content of the zip folder downloaded in step 1.

  3. Launch the October 2017 release of Illustrator CC.

  4. Choose File > Scripts > Other Scripts. Alternatively, use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl/Command+F12.

  5. Choose the downloaded script and click Open.

Our engineering team is looking into a more robust way to handle this issue.
