Adobe Capture Gradients

Gradients are a type of color elements that smoothly blends colors. They can be used to create various effects in design work, illustration, video, and photo editing. Every gradient consists of a series of color swatches with stops between them that determine the distance between colors. Gradients can be rendered in several ways, such as linear or radial, depending on the desired effect. All gradients created in Adobe Capture are saved as linear.

  1. Gradients are created in Capture's Colors module. Launch Adobe Capture. If the Camera doesn't automatically launch, tap the camera icon to take a picture. To choose an existing image from your Camera Roll, Lightroom Catalog, Adobe Stock, or Creative Cloud, tap the Image icon.

  2. To select colors, use the Module slider at the bottom of the screen.

  3. To enable Gradient capture, tap the Mode icon at the upper-right and select Gradient icon. The app automatically determines an interesting gradient from the scene.

  4. To freeze the screen and tap the screen and swipe to select a new gradient. Drag the pointers to select new individual colors.

  5.  To add or subtract colors from 2 through 15, use a two-finger pinch on the gradient strip. You can also adjust the stops by selecting the Triangle icon to move the midpoint between two colors.

  6. To make photo adjustments for more accurate capture, tap the Filter icon at the top of the image.

  7. To go to the next step, press the shutter.

  8. Use the Swatches tab to adjust the color values and the Harmonies tab to edit the colors using color space sliders. You can also edit directly by choosing new colors from the source image.

  9. Tap Save (->) in the upper right corner of the screen.
