Use Acquisitions, a Mobile Marketing feature, to create tracking links to promote and drive traffic to apps.

Overview

Use Acquisition tracking links to drive users to app stores, app deep links, and interstitials, which then can be correlated to in-app behavior. You can create a single link to route users to iOS, Android, or other platforms as needed. Marketers can view Acquisition reports to gain insight into how their marketing links are performing.

Note: Acquisitions requires either the Adobe Analytics – Mobile Apps or the Adobe Analytics Premium SKU. This requires an additional purchase through the Digital Marketing Cloud.

Configuring Acquisition

Acquisition tracking must be enabled in the Mobile Marketing Dashboard configuration before you can track and report on marketing links. This information is then included in your app when you build it using On-Demand Services.

Facebook Ads do not support Adobe Acquisition links.

  1. Sign in to the Mobile Marketing Dashboard (https://mobilemarketing.adobe.com).

  2. Add or edit an app.

  3. Select the app to configure it, scroll down to SDK Acquisition Options, select Enable, and set a session timeout value greater than 0 seconds (such as 5 seconds). Click Save.

    If you don't have access to SDK Acquisition Options, contact your system administrator.

    The timeout option specifies the length of time, in seconds, that must elapse between app launches before the launch is considered a new session. This timeout also applies when your application is sent to the background and reactivated. The time that your app spends in the background is not included in the session length.

  4. Click Manage Link Destinations, and then click Create New. Specify the options.

    Title – Specify a descriptive name for your app link destination. The title displays only on the Manage Link Destinations page in the Adobe Mobile Services UI.

    Link Type – App deep link destinations are URI schema deep links that direct users to a deep link within your app, such as to a collection or article in a mobile app. Web link destinations direct users to a specific URL, such as to a specific product line on an online retailer's website. Hybrid links support iOS Universal Links or Android App Links.

    App – Select the app associated with the link you are going to provide. This information is required only if you selected an App Deep Link or a Hybrid Link from the Link Type option. If the app of your choice does not appear in the selection list, click Add New App to reference a new app from an app store. For iOS apps, the App ID is the Apple ID (not the Bundle ID) displayed in iTunes Connect.

    App Deep Link – For deep linking to an article, you can use the following format: dps.<project_id>://?entityRef=/publication/<project_id>/article/<article_name>. For more information about deep linking, see Hyperlinks in AEM Mobile articles.

    Notes – Provide optional notes for your destination.

  5. Click Save.

  6. In app settings, click Acquisition, and then click Marketing Links Builder. Create links.

    The builder helps you build marketing links that can route users to app stores and app or web link destinations. Marketers can choose destinations based on rules, such as device type or operating system of the user’s device.

  7. Rebuild your app.

    Whenever you configure app settings in the Marketing Cloud Dashboard, you must rebuild your app in On-Demand Services in order to pick up the changes.
