Dreamweaver running slowly

Dreamweaver is running slowly even though your computer meets Dreamweaver system requirements.

Dreamweaver may be running slowly due to on-access virus scanning. Dreamweaver consists of many internal JavaScript files (.js files), and real-time virus scanners sometimes scan the JavaScript files that Dreamweaver is accessing. On-access scanning of these JavaScript files can slow down Dreamweaver.

Solution: Don't use virus scan on certain Dreamweaver files

Modify the preferences for your virus protection software so that the JavaScript files in the Dreamweaver main program folder and Dreamweaver user configuration folder are not scanned when opened. The location of these folders depends on which operating system and which version of Dreamweaver you are using:

  • Dreamweaver CS3 on Windows Vista:
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Dreamweaver CS3\
    C:\Users\[user]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Dreamweaver 9\

    C:\Documents and Settings\[user]\Application Data\Adobe\Dreamweaver 9\
  • Dreamweaver 8 on Windows Vista:
