Improved Search lets you find images based on meaning and metadata, not just keywords, like searching “a happy dog in snow” and getting exactly the same result.

Use the search bar to find photos within an album or the All Photos view. Lightroom on the web can find and show photos based on exact search words. Search for more descriptive things, and the most relevant photo will appear in the search results.

When you use Improved Search for the first time, Lightroom on the web may take some time to index your catalog to provide the best results. After Lightroom on the web finishes indexing, the Info  icon appears, letting you know the Improved Search feature is ready.

All photos is opened on Lightroom on the web, where information about Improved search is highlighted.
Use meaningful words to retrieve the best results with Improved search.

Note

Starting with the April 2026 release of Lightroom on the web, the Improved Search feature can be used with any language Lightroom supports.
