Tool functionality

Stock libraries mean leaving Premiere to search, audition, and license tracks that thousands of other videos also use. Music from Adobe Stock is already natively integrated into Premiere, but with Generate Music, you can generate exactly the background track you need just by describing it.

Generate Music, powered by the Firefly Music Model, is optimized to create instrumental background music for video. Instead of creating songs that resemble popular artists.

We see Generate Music as a tool for editors, not a replacement for musicians. It's built for the moments editors reach for temp tracks, quick backing beds, or placeholder music in a rough cut – work that often wouldn't go to a composer or a licensed track in the first place. For original scores, artist collaborations, and signature soundtracks, human musicians remain essential, and Premiere continues to support licensed and stock-music workflows right alongside generation.

Generated music arrives as a high-quality 48 kHz audio clip placed on your timeline, ready to play back natively. It behaves like any other audio clip – you can trim, move, and apply effects, and remove it if you don’t want it.

Generate Music creates instrumental music optimized for video background. It does not generate lyrics.

Edit your prompt or change the tempo and generate again to get a fresh set of variations. You can also switch between the four variations to compare them against your picture before you commit.

All generated assets are being saved to a subfolder next to your project. You can change the location of that folder in Project Settings. Premiere will automatically create a “Generation history” bin in your project with all generated media, including variations.

Models, credits & commercial safety:

Generating media uses generative credits, and usage varies across models and options. The generative task bar always shows how many credits the current combination will use, and you can check your balance from your profile.
