Design template requirements

An introduction to the technical, quality, and legal requirements for design templates in Adobe Stock with contact information for designers interested in submitting work.

Templates are design solutions that are meant for users to edit and replace with their own content in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, or InDesign. Adobe Stock is looking for templates that inspire and educate new users while maintaining consistent standards for the seasoned user.

Design templates are not currently accepted through the Contributor portal.

For now, our collection of design templates is by invitation-only and represents a relatively small group of artists and agencies. Over time, we may be expanding them to include a broader group of contributors.

Basic guidelines

Rejection reasons

All templates submitted to Adobe Stock go through a review process to ensure that the content meets Adobe’s design and technical quality standards. Rejection reasons are provided as a courtesy. As stated in your contributor agreement, we may reject or accept content at our discretion. To help you become a successful Adobe Stock templates contributor, we have listed some common reasons for rejection that you can avoid:

Rejection Reason

What is it?

Use of non-Adobe Fonts

File contains fonts that are not available to sync from Adobe Fonts.

Replace non-Adobe Fonts by navigating to the Adobe Fonts site and search by style to find a visually similar font.

Intellectual property (IP) violations

An image, graphic, or text area in the file contains content that violates intellectual property guidelines.

All images used in preview/thumbnail images should be licensed from Adobe Stock, or wholly owned and submitted with model releases.

Provide a model release or property release for the subject in your content, completely remove/scrub any recognizable branding, trademark, or trade dress depicted in the content and in the layer naming.

Non-generic text

The template contains text references to addresses or other content that are too similar to an existing name, company, or location.

Contributors should avoid using real names and references to identifiable people, companies, and locations in their templates. We suggest using fictitious and generic names to represent individuals, company/logo placements, etc.

  • Names: “John Smith”, “Jane Smith”, “Mary Doe”
  • Companies: “Your Company”, “Your Logo”
  • Links: “”, “”
  • Addresses: “123 Street, City, State 45678”
  • Dummy Text/Paragraphs: “Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing...”

Using generic text also makes it clearer to audiences that these text fields are placeholders only and are meant to be replaced by the user.

Usability issues

The template file is incomplete, corrupt, disorganized, or unclear enough to impact usability.

Refer to the app-specific guidelines pages to learn more about best practices for setting up your template file type, and to make sure that your file is technically impeccable and well-built:

Non-Standard Sizes

The template files contrains layout sizes that are not accepted by Adobe Stock

Refer to the Standard Paper and Screen Sizes list for the most up-to-date formats we accept and revise your content to meet these requirements.

The template file is too similar to other works you have already submitted.

We will accept a maximum of 3 highly similar works.
