Acrobat desktop app
March 2023 release
To experience the new features immediately, update your Acrobat—on the Help menu, click Check for updates and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the update process.
The following new features are introduced in this release. Click > to know more about the feature.
Adobe introduced an entirely reimagined experience for Acrobat (64-bit) desktop users last year for selected users. With the March 2023 release, the new experience is available for all fresh Acrobat Reader installs in the English locale. The new experience aims to provide an intuitive and seamless experience for viewing content and performing any action on the PDF.
With the March 2023 release of Adobe Acrobat and Acrobat Reader, the software version will be updated from 22.xx to 23.xx. This change applies only to the Continuous track of Adobe Acrobat and Acrobat Reader. For more information, see Adobe Acrobat and Acrobat Reader upcoming version changes.
Acrobat now provides an enhanced document scrolling experience while viewing or reading the document with Enable Scrolling Mode.
- The scrolling experience on macOS has improved by 66% from 30fps to over 50fps.
- The scrolling experience on Windows has improved from ~15fps to ~30fps.
Adobe is rolling out this feature incrementally.
The auto-adjust layout mode in Acrobat now supports the following key features:
- PDFs containing paragraphs, lists, image, table and side-by-side content are now qualified for editing.
- Keyboard actions like Cut, Copy, Paste, and Undo or Redo operations are now supported for content within or around another content.
- While editing a column, the content reflows in the same column. However, PDFs with multi column content in which the content reflows from one to another column is disqualified and isn't eligible for enhanced editing using the auto-adjust layout feature.
Acrobat modern viewer now supports plugins from third parties.
The Add custom page tool is now renamed to Design a new page to align with the tool’s actual purpose.

If you use the Design a new page tool from the right-click context menu or the insertion bar to add a new page from an existing template to the beginning of a document, the page size is adjusted to match the size of the selected first page. Similarly, if you add a page in between the pages of the document, the page size is adjusted to match the selected page of the document, or the second page before which you want to insert the new page.

Acrobat now allows recipients to invite other collaborators via @mention, which wasn't possible in the previous versions. The following prompts inform you of the @mention functionality.

In PDF comments and replies, Acrobat now prompts you to invite reviewers using @mention.
This feature is rolled out as an experiment and is not available to all users.

Additionally, if Acrobat detects that you have no file-sharing history or if Microsoft Outlook isn't installed, it prompts you to choose your contacts or send an e-mail.

Share files prompt after you create a PDF
Acrobat now prompts you to share files via a link or invite users to review after you've created a PDF file from a clipboard, webpage, or a blank page.

Share files prompt after you Convert to pdf
Acrobat now prompts you to share files via a link or invite users to review after you've converted to a PDF file from other file formats.

Use edit tool prompt while formatting text
Acrobat now prompts you to use the Edit tool when you try to format text like increase or decrease font size, bold or italicize text using keyboard shortcuts.

Use edit tool prompt while using cut, delete, paste options
When you use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl/Cmd +X to cut a text in PDF, Acrobat prompts you to use the Edit tool to perform the operation.

When you press the Delete or Backspace key on the keyboard to delete text in a PDF, Acrobat prompts you to use the Edit tool to perform the operation.

Similarly, when you use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl/Cmd +V to paste text in a PDF, Acrobat prompts you to use the Edit tool to perform the operation.

Edit menu options enabled while text selection
When you select a text in a PDF, the options like Cut, Copy, Paste, Delete, Select all, Deselect all and Take a Snapshot are enabled in the Edit menu.

Acrobat now prompts you to use the Export tool when you use the Select All or Take a Snapshot option in the Edit menu.
This feature is rolled out as an experiment and is not available to all users.

Use sign tools after editing PDF
When you edit a PDF, Acrobat now displays the option to Request E-signatures, and Fill & Sign tools in addition to the Organize Pages tool as the next action you might want to take in the edit properties panel on the right.

Request signatures banner when you exit the sign workflow
In Acrobat, if you exit the sign workflow midway to return to the viewer, Acrobat displays a banner asking if you want to send the document for e-signing.

- Selecting the Learn how to use button takes ypu to the respective help article for Request Signatures.
- Selecting the Request e-signatures button opens the Add signer dialog in the Fill & Sign tool.
To increase discovery and awareness of Acrobat’s Web and Mobile offerings, Acrobat desktop now displays the following tools.
This feature is rolled out as an experiment and is not available to all users.
Use the apps from the Waffle menu
Select the waffle menu in the top-right corner of Acrobat to see the list of apps you can use. A description of Acrobat apps has been included to communicate the key functionality of the apps.

High value action cards on the Home page
Acrobat now displays a card on the Home page to enable the browser extension.

Option to install the Adobe Scan app from Scans
Also, when you select Scans on the left pane, Acrobat displays the QR code to install the Adobe Scan app.
