JPEG artifacts removal filter

Use the JPEG artifacts removal filter to make your image look sharper and rid of flaws caused by compression. Here's how you can do it in Photoshop.

Try it yourself

With one click, you can clean up imperfections resulting from compressing your images and make them look sharper in Photoshop.

  1. You can access the Discover Panel in Photoshop using the search icon at the upper right of the interface. Alternatively, you can use the Cmd/Ctrl + F keyboard shortcut or choose Help > Photoshop Help from the menu bar.

  2. In the Discover Panel dialog box, navigate to the Browse > Quick Actions section and scroll down to the JPEG artifacts removal filter quick action. When using this neural filter for the first time, you must click the Download button for installation. 

  3. Click the Apply button and you will see that your image appears sharp and flawless as the filter will remove all imperfections caused by compression. 

    To try on a different layer, select the one you want from the Layers panel, then click Refresh.

    Click Apply to remove the jpeg artifact in your image using the Discover panel > Quick Actions

  4. You can further refine your action on the image by going to Filter > Neural Filter and adjusting the Strength settings to Low, Medium, or High

  5. Click the Revert button to undo the quick action's steps all at once. Click Browse more quick actions to choose from a variety of quick actions you can apply to your image.
