Easily add or remove Grain from a masked area of an image

You can add or remove grains from specific areas of an image by using the new Grain sliders in the Masking section.

  1. Open an image in the Develop module and Mask the area you want to add or remove Grain.

  2. Under the Effect panel, adjust the intensity of grains to the masked area using the Amount slider in the Grain section.

  3. Use the Roughness and Size sliders to adjust the grains in an image. These settings will apply to both global and masked areas of the image.

Presence is now renamed to Effect.

Make precise edits with the new Refine Saturation slider in Point Curve

Retain the color depths while making Tone Curve adjustments using the new Refine Sat. slider.

  1. Open an image in the Develop module and select Tone Curve.

  2. After making necessary Tone Curve adjustments, use the Refine Sat. slider to control the image's color saturation. Setting the slider to zero will retain the original colors of the image.

Refine Sat. slider is also available while making Curve adjustments in Masking.

  • Faster image load time when switching from Library to Develop module.
  • Improved performance when navigating or selecting an image within the Develop module.

  • Improved visuals with fewer gray areas when walking or selecting images within the Develop module.

Other enhancements

  • A new choice of Parametric and Point Curves is now available while making a Preset and copying settings.
  • Holding Alt or Option key while making adjustments with HSL TAT tool or Color mixer sliders will show the active hue in color and greyscale of all other hues for better visualisation.
  • Use the alignment options in the Cell panel of the Book module to automatically align the image in a cell.

  • Enable GPU with a single click: Lightroom Classic now auto-detects if the system GPU is disabled and gives you a pop-up option to Enable with just one click.
  • Upgraded Process Version (PV) to Process Version 6 to reduce banding issues in adjusted images.
