Known Licensing Issues With Adobe InDesign Server

1. InDesign Server launches then exits without warning after the start up process completes

Solution 1:

InDesign Server is not licensed. This issue is likely if running IDS on a virtualized environment and the virtual OS is moved between hosts. Create a license-only package in the Admin Console. Follow the steps in the Install licenses for license-only packages section to activate.

Solution 2:

If this is occurring on Mac and Solution 1 did not resolve the problem, check the NGL logs for the following:

SaveToStorageImpl Error: Failed in writing to storage with error code -25300

This indicates an issue with Secure Notes stored in the Mac Keychain application:

(i)                 Open the Keychain application.

(ii)                Delete any Secure Notes called Adobe App Info.

(ii)                Launch IDS from the command line to verify it now launches correctly.

2. Serialized licensing issues

 Adobe InDesign Server is not properly licensed and will now quit.

 Solution:

 (i)                 Serialize the product again using Offline and Online activation steps.

 (ii)                If re-serialization does not help, delete SLCache and SLStore folders and serialize the products again.

  Adobe InDesign Server launches as a single instance even though it’s licensed for multiple instances.

  Solution:

  (i)                 Double Check the serial number.

  (ii)                If the serial number is correct and the problem still occurs, reserialize the products using Offline and Online activation steps.

 (iii)                If re-serialization does not help, delete SLCache and SLStore folders and serialize the products again.

3. Adobe InDesign Server launches as watermark version

Solution:

(i)                 Delete SLCache and SLStore folders.

(ii)                Reserialize the product using Offline and Online activation steps.

Location of SLCache and SLStore folders:

Windows:

C:\ProgramData\Adobe\SLStore

C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\SLCache

MAC:

System Library/Application Support/Adobe/SLStore

System Library/Application Support/Adobe/SLCache

4. Adobe InDesign Server is not properly licensed and will now quit

Solution:

(i)                 Serialize the product again using Offline/Online activation steps.

(ii)                If re-serialization does not help, delete SLCache and SLStore folders and serialize the products again.

5. Adobe InDesign Server launches as single instance even though it’s licenced for multiple instances

Solution:

(i)                 Double Check the serial number.

(ii)                If serial number is correct and the problem still occurs, reserialize the products using Offline/Online activation steps.

(iii)               If re-serialization does not help, delete SLCache and SLStore folders and serialize the products again.

6. Adobe InDesign Server launches as watermark version

Solution:

(i)                 Delete SLCache and SLStore folders.

(ii)                Reserialize the product using Offline/Online activation steps.
