Learn about generating production reports in projects

You can generate reports projects/documents in projects to distribute script breakdown information with cast and crew. For example, an Artiste crossplot report lists all the sets where an actor/artist is needed across one or all the selected scripts in a project.

Production reports from a schedule

You can generate the Studio Recording Order report using the Shooting Order Script report. This report lists the details of studio scenes in shooting order along with shot information. It is used by the Director, First ADs, script supervisors, and crew.

Create report form projects

  1. In the Project card, select the three dots.

  2. Click the dots and select Project report.

  3. Select Project report and save to save all list data to project in an xml format on disk.

Generate a report from one or more scripts

You can generate a report from one or more scripts.

  1. From document list view of the project, select the scripts from which report is to be generated

  2. Select Create Report.

    1. In the report dialog, select the type of the report.

    2. To display the report, select View on creation.

Generate a report from one or more scripts or a schedule

You can generate a report from a script, schedule, or multiple scripts/schedules. When you are generating a report from the Projects view, you can include:

  • One or more scripts for a scripting report
  • One schedule for a scheduling report
  1. Do one of the following:

    1. Select either scripts or schedules from which report has to be generated and then click Create report.

    2. Select the document and then the report type.

    3. In the Projects view, select Schedules.

  2. In the Reports dialog, do the following and click OK:

    1. Select the type of the report. For example, select Shooting Order Script from REPORT TYPE drop-down list. The report contains the same scene order as in the schedule. When you create Shooting Order Script report from a schedule, the shooting order is same as the schedule and not the source script.

      You can edit, print, and save the report on to computer or disk. To do the tasks, click File and select from Save As (to save report with a custom name and description), Save to Disk (to save report to a disk), or Print.

    2. If you are generating the report from the Projects view, select the scripts/schedule to be included in the report.

    3. If you are generating a report from a schedule, select Location / Studio. Select Location only to include the strips that have locations specified for them. Select Studio only to include the strips that are shot in the studio. Select Location & Studio to include all the strips in the schedule, including scenes for which studio or location is not specified. (These options are available for Calls, Schedule Dates Crossplot, and Shooting Schedule reports.)

    4. To display the report, select View report on creation.

Camera cards reports

Story can generate Camera Cards report for all the cameras. While generating this report, specify if you want to generate the report for all the cameras or for a particular camera.

  1. Do one of the following:

    1. In the document list view, select documents and then click Create Report.

    2. In the schedule view, click (Reports).

  2. In the Reports dialog, do the following and click Generate:

    1. Specify If you want to create report for all the cameras or specify a particular camera number for which to create the report.

    2. If you want to include videotape element occurrences in the report, select Include VTs.

    3. If you are generating report from the project view, select Select All Documents or one of the schedules. Report cannot be created from more than one schedule.

    4. If you want to generate camera cards only for a specific day in the schedule, set the Day Number or Date options in the Select Day area.

    5. If you want to create camera cards only for location scenes or studio scenes, select the appropriate option in the Select Location/Studio area.

Add and remove page break and line break

Camera card reports are summarized version of shots for a camera person to handle. The reports have one card on one page. You can merge the cards and remove the blank space below the cards.

To remove blank space, place your cursor at the beginning of the card on the next page and press backspace.

To add blank space, place your cursor at the end of the camera card and press enter.

Generate the Camera Cards report from a script/Shooting Order script

Shooting order script is a compilation of scenes in the order that they were displayed in a schedule. Once you have created a schedule and sorted it, such as according to the set, characters, or time of the day, you can create a script in shooting order. While creating this script, you can specify if you want to include Location scenes only, Studio scenes or both in the script. You can then distribute the script in shooting order to the production staff and crew for reference.

In addition to schedules, camera cards can now be generated from the shooting order script and from the source scripts. The shot numbering schemes for the reports are as follows:

  • Camera Cards [Script]: The camera shot numbers are the same as the camera shot numbers in the source script.
  • Camera Cards [Schedule]: Numbering is sequential and is based on the order of scenes in the schedule. Proper numbering is applied to subshots and shots with no camera shot number.
  • Camera Cards [Shooting Order Script]: The camera shot numbers are the same as the camera shot numbers in the shooting order script.

Use Formatting toolbar in reports

You can use the formatting toolbar in reports to set font style, font size, and font type.

To use the toolbar, select text and choose from the tools in the formatting toolbar:

  • Font type: Choose between Myriad Pro, Courier STD, and Minion Pro.
  • Font size: Set font size for your text.
  • Emphasis tools: Choose between Bold, Italics, and Underline.

Similar to scripts, you can insert a header and footer in your reports. You can edit the header and footer on the first page and other pages independently.

Use any of the following ways to insert and modify header and footer in your reports:

  • To modify header and footer on the first page, select Production > Modify Header Footer > First Page.
  • To modify header and footer on other pages, select Production > Modify Header Footer > Other Pages.

You can use the Header/Footer dialog to set the header and footer accordingly. You can also double-click the header and footer on the page to view the Header/Footer dialog.
