Learn how system administrators can enable and assign Shared Credits so users can continue using genAI-powered features after their individual monthly generative credits run out.
About Shared Credits
Shared Credits (formerly Generative Credit Pool) provide access to organization-level Operations that support continued use of GenAI-powered features that are included in Creative Cloud and Acrobat products and Services after users exhaust their individual monthly generative credits.
Users consume their individual monthly generative credits first. After these credits are exhausted, eligible genAI-powered actions automatically use the organization’s Operations for assigned users.
Note
Shared Credits don’t pool or redistribute individual monthly generative credits. They only enable fallback from generative credits to organization‑level Operations when individual monthly generative credits run out.
At the start of each month, individual generative credits reset and are consumed first again. If those credits are exhausted, eligible usage automatically switches to Operations until the next monthly reset.
Benefits of Shared Credits
- Prevents user disruption by extending access to premium generative features after individual monthly generative credits run out.
- Gives admins control over access by assigning individuals or groups through product profiles in the Admin Console.
- Balances usage by drawing from a single, organization‑level Operations pool.
Eligibility
As a system administrator, you can assign and manage Shared Credits only if your organization:
- Has an Enterprise term license agreement (ETLA).
- Has access to a Shared Credit Product. For a current list of qualifying products, see the Shared Credit Product Description
Enable Shared Credits for users
Assigned users can continue using premium generative features after their monthly generative credits run out by drawing from the organization's Operations pool.
Note
To use an existing Shared Credits product profile, no setup is required. Shared Credits are automatically available to all users assigned to the profile. You can start assigning users to the product profile directly.
Select a product that supports Shared Credits.
Create a new product profile or select an existing one.
- New profile: Select New profile, enter details, and optionally enable notifications when users are added to or removed from the profile.
- Existing profile: For Firefly Creative Production or Firefly Creative Production for Enterprise, select the profile and choose Details. Shared Credits product profiles require no additional setup.
Configure Shared Credits access:
- If you're creating a new Shared Credits product profile, select Save.
- For Firefly Creative Production and Firefly Creative Production for Enterprise product profiles, select Next, review the generative credits setting, and then select Save.
- If you see Convert to Generative Credits, turn it on to enable Shared Credits.
- If you see Disable Conversion to Generative Credits, leave it off to keep Shared Credits enabled.
Assign users to a product profile with Shared Credits enabled.
Select a product profile with Shared Credits enabled.
Select Add users to add users or user groups.
For easier administration, assign user groups whenever possible. You can manage access by updating group memberships rather than editing individual product profiles.
To add multiple users, you can use any of the following methods:
- Automate the user management for your directory using Azure Sync or Google Sync.
- Use the User Sync tool to synchronize user and group information from your organization’s directory.
- Upload a list of users using a CSV file.
Allow users to self-serve
Eligible users can request access to Shared Credits when administrators make Shared Credits available. You can manage requests in two ways:
- Automatically, using assignment rules.
- Manually, by reviewing individual requests.
Configure automatic assignment rules to grant Shared Credits access when eligible users request it. Learn more about automatic assignment rules.
Go to Automatic assignment rules in the Admin Console.
Select Add product and choose the Shared Credits-enabled product that you want to assign automatically.
Select a product profile with Shared Credits enabled.
If no product profile currently has Shared Credits enabled, create or update a product profile before continuing.
Once the rule is set up, users who exhaust their monthly credits can request access and automatically receive Shared Credits, as configured.
If you prefer more control, review requests individually before granting access.
Go to Product requests in the Admin Console.
The list displays product requests received in the last 60 days, after which the requests automatically expire and are removed from the list.
Select Review to view request details and the business reason entered by the user.
Under Product assigned, select the appropriate product and product profile.
For Firefly Creative Production or Firefly Creative Production for Enterprise, select a profile with Shared Credits enabled, or select Edit product profile to set up a product profile.
Select Approve.
The user receives an email confirming approval and can begin using Shared Credits. Learn more about managing product requests.
View the generative credits rate card
To view the conversion rate for Operations to generative credits, refer to the rate card for your specific offer.
Go to the Products section in the Admin Console.
Select a product that supports Shared Credits.
Select Details.
Select View Rate Card to open the latest conversion values.
Assign only the users or user groups that require access to a product profile with Shared Credits enabled.
After users exhaust their individual monthly generative credits, only assigned users can draw from the organization's Operations pool.
You can't set a usage limit for an individual user or group. Shared Credits usage follows the contractual true‑up model. If consumption exceeds the available Operations, additional usage is billed according to the org’s ETLA terms.
Yes. You can control access to Shared Credits by adding or removing individuals or user groups from the relevant product profile at any time.
