Generate images using Imagen

Last updated on 9 Jun 2026

Learn how to use Imagen image generation models to generating images in Firefly.

Use Imagen models including Imagen 3 and Imagen 4 with the Generate image feature to create images. These models can help generate detailed and visually consistent image outputs.

When you select a partner model to generate images, you'll be prompted to confirm that you're using a model that isn't developed by Adobe, along with other relevant information. Please review the details and select OK to continue.

The Start using the partner models is open and you have the option to continue or cancel.
Review the Start using the partner models prompt and decide whether you want to begin generating images with partner models.

On the Firefly homepage, select Generate in the left panel and then Generate image.

On the Generate image page, enter a text prompt in the Prompt field.

In the General settings section, select the Model dropdown menu.

Under the Partner models section, select the Imagen 3 or Imagen 4 model.

Use the Aspect ratio dropdown menu to choose the dimensions for the generated image.

  • Widescreen (16:9)
  • Vertical (9:16)
  • Square (1:1)
  • Portrait (3:4)
  • Landscape (4:3)

If needed, upload an image of an object as a reference and generate specific objects or elements within the final image.

Note

The Subject option is available only for the Imagen 3 model.

Select Generate .
