Tooltips overview

Learn about tooltips and how to turn them on or off in Adobe Photoshop.
Tooltips provide helpful information about tools and features. When you hover over a tool, panel option, or icon, a tooltip appears with a short description.
Photoshop provides two types of tooltips.
- Standard tooltips: Display the tool name and keyboard shortcut.
- Rich tooltips: Display a description and a short video of the tool in action.
Manage tooltip settings
By default, the tooltips appear in Photoshop. You can control the display of standard tooltips or rich tooltips.
- To turn off the tooltips, select Edit > Preferences > Tools, then deselect Show Tooltips and Show Rich Tooltips.
- To turn on the tooltips, select Edit > Preferences > Tools, then select Show Tooltips and Show Rich Tooltips.
