Adobe Freehand MX fails to launch on Snow Leopard (Mac OS X 10.6). This problem occurs with both new installations as well as installations that were carried out before upgrading to Mac OS X 10.6.
The activation component of the software is incompatible with Mac OS X 10.6 preventing the application from launching successfully.
Download the following zip file, decompress and install it in the following location: Macintosh HD\Library\Application Support\Macromedia.
Adobe Freehand will now launch successfully.
No updates to FreeHand have been made for over four years, and Adobe has no plans to initiate development to add new features or to support Intel-based Macs and Windows Vista.
Freehand requires Rosetta to be installed. Rosetta provides PPC code emulation allowing applications containing PPC code to run on Intel based Macs.
