Learn how to customize and save app settings, including display, file saving, performance, presets, and plug-ins from the Preferences dialog in Adobe Photoshop.
All settings are saved when you close the app, but they are lost if you force quit or the app crashes.
By default, settings in Preferences migrate from a prior version to an updated version, and you can choose to keep or remove them upon uninstalling a version.
Open and adjust Preferences
Tip
You can also use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + K (Windows) or Command + K (macOS).
Select a category, such as General, Interface, or Workspace. Each category includes settings that help customize Photoshop to your workflow.
Select OK.
Photoshop organizes preferences into the following categories:
- General: Configure general application behavior and default settings.
