Cause

Corrupt or missing Windows system fonts can cause this issue. Photoshop uses these fonts to display text in various dialog boxes.

Solution

  1. Check whether the Myriad Pro and Tahoma family of fonts are installed or not. To check the fonts currently installed on your Windows machine:

    1. Click Start, and then click Run
    2. Type the following command, and then click OK:
      %windir%\fonts

If you can't find the Myriad Pro and Tahoma family of fonts in the window that appears, install them using these instructions:

    1. Download 'fonts.zip' attachment provided below. Unzip it.
    2. Now install the fonts contained in the unzipped fonts folder. For instructions, see Microsoft's support article: How to install or remove a font in Windows.

    Proceed to the next step.

    Download

Alternatively, if you have access to another computer where Photoshop dialogs appear correctly, you can install the Myriad Pro and Tahoma family of fonts from the working machine to the affected machine.

  2. Restore to default windows font settings. To do so:

    1. Click Start, and then click Run. Type the following command, and then click OK:
      %windir%\fonts
    2. In the left pane, click Font Settings.
    3. Click Restore Default Font Settings.
  3. Relaunch Photoshop.
