Please note: The Legacy Titler will no longer be available in the next major release of Premiere Pro (v. 23.0).
If you have not done so already, we strongly recommend transitioning to the Essential Graphics panel for your titling workflows.

Are you transitioning from the Legacy Titler to the new titling tools? Download this guide.
When opening a project containing Legacy Titles, a dialog asks if you would like to update your Legacy titles to Source graphics. A copy of all Legacy Titles will remain in the project, next to the converted Source Graphic, and Source Graphics will replace all Legacy Titles used in sequences.
You can convert Legacy Titles to Source Graphics at any time using Graphics > Upgrade Legacy Title. Or set keyboard shortcuts for these commands using the keyboard shortcuts panel. For more information, see Keyboard shortcuts in Premiere Pro.
Source Graphics do not support the Responsive Design – Time feature.
The Legacy Titler workflow in Premiere Pro will be retired in 2022. Premiere Pro 23.0 will no longer support legacy titles. We strongly encourage you to move to the new titling tools in the Essential Graphics panel to become familiar with the new capabilities and smoothly transition to these workflows.
If you have projects with Legacy Titles, use the following procedure to convert them to Source Graphics that you can then edit using the Essential Graphics panel.
As a best practice, Adobe recommends making a copy of projects before upgrading Legacy Titles.
To upgrade Legacy Titles into Source Graphics:
Do one of the following:
To compare the upgraded Source Graphic to your Legacy Title, duplicate your Legacy Title on the track and only upgrade one of the copies in the Project panel. This way, you can make a side-by-side comparison of the results.
Premiere Pro adds a Source graphic with the suffix "-Upgraded" to the Project panel and replace all instances of the Legacy Title on tracks with the Source Graphic. If you used a Legacy Title in multiple sequences with different frame sizes, Premiere Pro will create multiple instances of the upgraded Source graphic to match each individual sequence.
Make sure you quality check the upgraded graphics, as not all characteristics of a Legacy Title translate perfectly into Source Graphics. Rolls, crawls, tracking and rotated text are not translated. There may also be other minor differences.
Upgrade Legacy Titles does not provide a perfect copy of the original title. Source Graphics use a more modern codebase and do not share all of the same attributes as the old Legacy Titles.

* Layer settings that may look a little different after the upgrade.
If needed, you can make changes to Source Graphics using the Essential Graphics tools.
