Set up AI avatars in your project
Before you start creating AI-powered narrations, decide whether to add the avatar to all slides or only specific ones. By default, when you add an avatar for the first time, it appears on all slides in the project. You can then selectively remove the avatar from slides where it isn’t needed.
Enable avatar on all slides
You can enable an avatar across the entire project by using project-wide settings. These settings act as presets, ensuring that every slide in your course automatically includes the chosen avatar.
It’s recommended to configure these settings at the start of your course creation so that the avatar style and voice remain consistent throughout. However, you can still make changes later. This flexibility lets you maintain consistency across your course while still giving you control to adapt avatars where needed.
- Slide-level overrides: You can still replace or customize avatars on individual slides later.
- Updating settings: If you modify project-level avatar settings, any newly added slides will automatically use the updated avatar.

Another way to enable the avatar on all slides is by navigating to the top menu and selecting Generative AI > Generate avatar.
Change avatar on a slide
You can replace the avatar on individual slides without affecting the rest of your project. This flexibility allows you to:
- Use different avatars for different sections, making the course feel more dynamic.
- Introduce variety and avoid a monotonous experience for learners.
- Assign avatars that reflect the context of the slide. For example, a formal presenter for policy explanations and a more casual avatar for scenario-based learning.
Changing avatars at the slide level helps keep your course engaging and tailored to the type of content being delivered.

Disable the avatar on a slide
You can choose to hide the avatar on specific slides if narration is not needed or if you want learners to focus entirely on the slide’s visuals and content. This is especially useful for slides such as:
- Introductory slides, where you want a clean start without narration.
- Informational graphics or visuals, where the focus should remain on the imagery.
- Content-heavy slides, where removing the avatar allows more space for text or media.
-

Conclusion
AI avatars transform how you create eLearning content. Instead of spending days recording narration or hiring voice talent, you can generate professional presentations in minutes—right within Adobe Captivate.
The key is to start simple: enable one avatar across your entire project to maintain consistency and streamline setup. Once you’re comfortable, experiment with using different avatars for various sections, or remove them from slides that don’t require narration.
With AI avatars, you have complete creative control to produce engaging, polished, and efficient eLearning experiences.
