Issue

Elements 2018 crashes on launch or while importing a catalog.

Solution

Follow the steps below to resolve this issue.

  1. Press and hold the Shift key on your keyboard while launching Elements Organizer.

  2. In the Catalog Manager dialog box that appears, click New to create a new catalog.

  3. Once Elements Organizer launches, go to Help > Updates and install the Photoshop Elements 2018.1 update.

  4. Once the update is installed, launch Elements Organizer 2018 again.

  5. If you faced this crash after converting or while restoring an older catalog, try to convert or restore your catalog again.

If Elements Organizer 2018 continues to crash after applying the Photoshop Elements 2018.1 update, reach out to GRP-ElementsSupport@adobe.com with the following details:

  • Details of the Operating System on which Elements Organizer 2018 is crashing.

  • Are you converting or restoring the catalog from an earlier version? If yes, what is the version of Photoshop Elements you were using earlier?

  • Is this crash reproducible with any of your catalogs? If yes, share the reproducible steps and keep a copy of the catalog for future reference.

    Follow the steps below to create a copy of the catalog:

    • In Elements Organizer, choose Help > System Info and copy the catalog location.

    • Go to the catalog location and create a copy of the entire catalog folder.
