Learn about AI Avatars in Adobe Captivate, digital presenters that transform written transcripts into professional narrations for your eLearning content with customizable options.

Overview

AI Avatars in Adobe Captivate act as virtual instructors for your eLearning courses. They transform your written text into realistic, professional narration videos, eliminating the need for voice recording or hiring actors.

Select an avatar, type your script, and let it deliver your content with natural speech and expressions. These customizable avatars make your courses more engaging, accessible, and cost-effective, allowing you to create polished video narrations directly within Captivate.

Why use AI Avatars

Bring your courses to life with digital presenters that speak, explain, and connect with your learners—just like real instructors.

  • Create professional narrations easily: Turn your written text into clear, natural-sounding narration across your course.
  • Save time and money: No need for recording studios, microphones, or hiring voice actors. Generate polished videos in minutes.
  • Make it your own: Pick avatars that match your content’s tone and your audience—formal, friendly, or anything in between.
  • Stay flexible: Add or update narration on any slide whenever your content changes.
  • Reach a global audience: Generate narrations in multiple languages and accents for learners everywhere.
  • Support every learner: Offer clear, consistent narration that improves accessibility and understanding for all.
Before you start

Set up AI avatars in your project

Before you start creating AI-powered narrations, decide whether to add the avatar to all slides or only specific ones. By default, when you add an avatar for the first time, it appears on all slides in the project. You can then selectively remove the avatar from slides where it isn’t needed.

Enable avatar on all slides

You can enable an avatar across the entire project by using project-wide settings. These settings act as presets, ensuring that every slide in your course automatically includes the chosen avatar.

It’s recommended to configure these settings at the start of your course creation so that the avatar style and voice remain consistent throughout. However, you can still make changes later. This flexibility lets you maintain consistency across your course while still giving you control to adapt avatars where needed.

註解:
  • Slide-level overrides: You can still replace or customize avatars on individual slides later.
  • Updating settings: If you modify project-level avatar settings, any newly added slides will automatically use the updated avatar.
  1. Select Project properties

Select Project properties from the bottom right corner
    Select Project properties

  2. Scroll down to Avatar settings and toggle on Enable avatar on all slides.

Avatar settings section in Project properties panel with Enable avatar on all slides toggle highlighted.
Enable the avatar feature globally through project properties to maintain consistent narration across your course.

This enables the avatar on all slides in the project.

Another way to enable the avatar on all slides is by navigating to the top menu and selecting Generative AI > Generate avatar.

Change avatar on a slide

You can replace the avatar on individual slides without affecting the rest of your project. This flexibility allows you to:

  • Use different avatars for different sections, making the course feel more dynamic.
  • Introduce variety and avoid a monotonous experience for learners.
  • Assign avatars that reflect the context of the slide. For example, a formal presenter for policy explanations and a more casual avatar for scenario-based learning.

Changing avatars at the slide level helps keep your course engaging and tailored to the type of content being delivered.

  1. Select the slide where you want to replace the avatar.

  2. Select the avatar on the slide and then select Visual properties > Change avatar.

  4. Select Apply to replace the avatar on the slide.

Disable the avatar on a slide

You can choose to hide the avatar on specific slides if narration is not needed or if you want learners to focus entirely on the slide’s visuals and content. This is especially useful for slides such as:

  • Introductory slides, where you want a clean start without narration.
  • Informational graphics or visuals, where the focus should remain on the imagery.
  • Content-heavy slides, where removing the avatar allows more space for text or media.
  1. Select the slide where you want to disable the avatar.

  2. Select Visual properties > Toggle off Enable avatar under Settings.

Visual properties panel with Enable avatar toggle set to off under Settings section.
Disable the avatar feature for specific slides where visual focus on content is preferred over narration.

    註解:

Disabling the avatar is a slide-level setting. To use it, make sure no objects are selected on the slide. Click anywhere outside the slide objects to activate the slide-level options.

The avatar is removed only from the specific slide where you disable it.

Conclusion

AI avatars transform how you create eLearning content. Instead of spending days recording narration or hiring voice talent, you can generate professional presentations in minutes—right within Adobe Captivate.

The key is to start simple: enable one avatar across your entire project to maintain consistency and streamline setup. Once you’re comfortable, experiment with using different avatars for various sections, or remove them from slides that don’t require narration.

With AI avatars, you have complete creative control to produce engaging, polished, and efficient eLearning experiences.
