Change frame rate

Learn to set the right frame rate based on the style of video you’re creating.

When editing a video, the frame rate (fps) refers to the number of images displayed per second. In the Firefly video editor (beta), you can set the timeline frame rate to match your project, whether for YouTube, social media, or films. This determines the overall speed and smoothness of your final video.

Before you begin:

Create a project and add media files to the timeline.

Select the menu   icon at the upper-left corner of the page, then select Timeline > Properties.

The main menu is opened, and from the available options, 'Timeline' is selected followed by 'Properties'.
Launch the Timeline properties panel to change the frame rate.

The Timeline properties panel gets enabled.

Use the Frame rate dropdown menu to select one of the available ones.

The Timeline properties panel is open, and the Frame rate dropdown menu is expanded, displaying multiple frame rate options to choose from.
Choose the desired frame rate to match your timeline and project style.

A higher frame rate makes motion look smoother and more lifelike, while a lower frame rate creates a softer, cinematic feel.
