Adobe Captivate crashes on Video Demo

Issue

When you try to create a Video Demo, Adobe Captivate behaves unexpectedly.

Cause

A possible reason could be the webcam driver, which is installed on the system. The driver configuration conflicts with the Video Demo workflow, and eventually crashes Adobe Captivate.

Resolution

  1. You may first try to update the Webcam and display drivers, restart the machine, and check if the issue persists.

  2. If the issue still persists, follow the steps below:

    1. Install WinDbg. Launch WindBg and attach the Adobe Captivate process to it.

      Nota:

Once Windows 10 SDK is downloaded, click on the downloaded file to install it. During the installation, In the SDK installation wizard, select Debugging Tools for Windows, and deselect all other components and proceed with installation.

    2. Click Video Demo. Now, Video Demo will not crash. Note the name of the webcam on the Video Demo dialog.

    3. Go to the Control Panel and delete the webcam.

    4. Rerun Video Demo. If Adobe Captivate crashes again, contact Adobe Captivate support.

Nota:

If you have installed Adobe Captivate in a Virtual Machine or in a Citrix environment, check if you have provided access to the webcam on that VM.

Ensure that Adobe Captivate is whitelisted in the WebCam's privacy settings. If Adobe Captivate still crashes, then follow the steps mentioned above.
