Lightroom not only empowers you to create beautiful images and express your vision, but it helps you become a better photographer with new ways to get inspired and grow your skills, right in the app. You can get hands-on experience learning how to make your photos look their best with a robust collection of interactive tutorials. You can also browse through different categories of inspirational photos by fellow photography members and tap them to open and see how the photo was edited, step-by-step.  You can also save the edits as a preset.

Edit photos for other photographers and allow them to edit yours

Introduced in Lightroom for mobile (Android) version 7.4 (June 2022 release)

In the Remix tab of the Discover feed, see what other photographers are doing and learn the latest editing trends from them. You can also edit photos of others, compare edits, and help learn from each other.

  1. Tap Discover at the bottom right side of the screen > tap the Remixes tab.

  2. To edit a photo, scroll to All Remixable Edits to view the remixable photos. Tap the  Remix icon or open the photo to remix it. Tap the Remix icon on the right panel of the screen. 

    When editing a photo, use the drop-down at the top of the screen to select photo As Shot or Original Edit

  3. Once you have edited the photo, tap the ( ) icon. Add a comment about your editing process, and tap Post for the user to see your edits. All edits made will appear in the Remixes tab of the user's profile.

  4. To share and allow others to edit your photo: Open an edited photo and tap the share icon > Share to Discover. Allow Enable Remixing toggle button > tap the check icon. Fill in the details like Title, Description, etc., before sharing the photo.

    Once you share a Remix to Discover, it will automatically appear in the Just Remixed section.  

  5. To view the remixes of a photo, open a photo to view all the edits made by different people in one place. Tap and view each edit in the lower navigation panel. The adjustments made are visible when you scroll up the screen.

    This way, you can learn, compare, and find editing styles that work for you. You can also tap the heart icon if you like a photo.

  6. If you like the edit you saw, tap Save as Preset in the right panel to save it for future use. You can access these later from the Presets panel.

  7. If you wish to remove your photo from Remixes, tap the three-dot icon on your photo and tap Remove

Community Search and filters

Introduced in Lightroom for mobile (Android) version 7.4 (June 2022 release)

The in-app Lightroom community is now more exciting than ever! Starting the June 2022 release of Lightroom on Android, you can now search and filter for content in the Learn and Discover sections.

Use the search bar in the Learn and Discover section to search for tutorials, photos, and more.

The Filter option in Learn section lets your filter tutorials based on:

Learning Topic - Filter content and topics based on B&WColorCompositionImage RescueLight, and Stylize.

Tools - Use a filter to search for tutorials based on tools like Color GradingBasicsMaskingHealing, etc. 

Subject Matter - Look for tutorials and content by subject matter, including AbstractFoodPeopleNatureWedding, etc.

Level - You can also filter tutorials/content based on BeginnerIntermediate, and Advanced levels.

The Filter option in Discover section lets your filter edits based on:

Remixable - Turn on this toggle if you wish to see only those photos that you can try to edit. 

Download Preset - Turn on this toggle if you want to see presets from the community that can be downloaded. 

Subject matter - Use this to select the Subject Matter topic of your choice. 

Get hands-on experience with interactive tutorials

Interactive tutorials provide a free and easy way to learn a wide variety of editing techniques while working within the app. You can access tutorials from a range of professional photographers and photo educators, and apply the edits, step-by-step, right within Lightroom mobile.

Access interactive tutorials

  1. Tap the Learn icon.

  2. The Learn section displays the set of tutorials to learn various photo editing techniques. Tap one of the following to select a tutorial:

    For You

    Provides tutorial recommendations based on your search. For You also displays tutorials under Featured, Trending, and Popular Categories sections. 

    Browse

    Browse tutorials categorized by Topic, Tool, and Subject Matter. Use the drop-down to select one of the three categories.

    Recently viewed

    Find a list of tutorials that you had viewed in the past along with more recommended tutorials.

    Starting Lightroom version 7.0, you can find detailed, interactive tutorials on Linear and Radial Gradient in the Learn section. Tap Browse > By Tools to find tutorials on specific tools.

  3. Once you tap a tutorial, a new window appears with details about the tutorial, such as author, total duration, and core features covered in the tutorial. Tap Start Tutorial

  4. Follow the tutorial with a sample photo that is provided within Lightroom. You can press and hold the screen any time during the tutorial to view the before and after photo. You can also rate your experience with the tutorial after completion.

    Pastaba:
    • To view the histogram of the photo, tap the three-dot icon at the upper-right corner and enable Show Histogram option from the menu that appears.
    • Starting from Lightroom for mobile (Android) version 6.3, you can access tutorials for Color Grading. In Learn, tap Browse > By Tools > Color Grading to view the tutorials.

Create preset

You can create a preset based on the settings in the tutorial. To create a preset, do the following:

  1. Access the interactive tutorial of your choice.

  2. Once the tutorial is over, tap the three-dot icon at the upper-right corner and select Create Preset from the menu that appears.

  3. Specify the Preset Name, Preset Group, select the settings that you want to include in the preset, and tap the confirm icon.

When editing your photos, you can now view and apply the created preset. For more information, see Work with Presets on your photo.

Copy Settings

To copy settings of the tutorial, do the following:

  1. Access the interactive tutorial of your choice.

  2. Once the tutorial is over, tap the three-dot icon at the upper-right corner and select Copy Settings from the menu that appears.

  3. Select the settings that you want to copy and tap the confirm icon.

You can paste the copied settings to one or more photos. For more information, see Copy and paste edits.

Share a tutorial

To share a tutorial, do the following:

  1. Open a tutorial of your choice from the Learn section.

  2. Tap the share icon in the upper-right corner.

Discover inspirational photos

Discover inspirational photos by fellow photography members, browse through different categories of photos, and tap them to see how the photo was edited, step-by-step. You can also save the edits as a preset.

Access inspirational photos

  1. Tap the Discover icon.

  2. The Discover section displays the list of inspirational photos. Tap an inspirational photo of your choice.

  3. Once you tap a photo, a new window appears to display the output of edits made to the photo.

    Tap the information icon at the upper-right corner to view more information about the photo.

  4. Tap Edits to see how the photo was edited, step-by-step.

Like a photo

  1. To like a photo, do one of the following:

    • Tap  at the lower-right corner of the photo in the Discover section.
    • Open the photo of your choice from the Discover section and tap  at the lower-right corner.
  2. If you have accidentally liked a photo, tap  again to unlike it.

Save as preset

You can save the exact combination of slider positions in the photo as a preset to apply on other photos. To save edits as preset, do the following:

  1. Open a photo of your choice from the Discover section.

  2. Do one of the following:

    • Tap the information icon in the upper-right corner and select Save As Preset.
    • Tap the three-dot icon at the upper-right corner and select Save As Preset.
    • Tap the save as preset icon at the lower right corner. 
  3. Specify the Preset Name,  Preset Group, and tap confirm icon. By default, the preset is added to the Saved Presets group in the Library view of the Presets panel.

When editing your photos, you can now access and apply the saved preset. For more information, see Work with Presets on your photo.

Open in edit

  1. Open a photo of your choice from the Discover section.

  2. Do one of the following:

    • Tap the information icon at the upper-right corner and select Open In Edit.
    • Tap the three-dot icon at the upper-right corner and select Open In Edit.

Share a photo

To share a photo, do the following:

  1. Open a photo of your choice from the Discover section.

  2. Tap the share icon in the upper-right corner.

Share your edits

You can share your photos along with their edits to the Discover section to inspire and connect with other Lightroom users. You can also allow your edits to be saved as preset by other users.

To share your edits: 

  1. Select a photo whose edit you want to share with other users.

  2. Tap the Share icon in the upper-right corner and select Share Edit.

  3. In the Share Edit dialog box, enter the following details:

    Title

    Enter the title for your edit.

    Description

    Enter the description that best describes your edit.

    Categories

    Select at least one category to help get your post easily discovered by users. You can select up tp three categories.

    Permissions

    Select Enable Save as Preset to allow other users to save your edits as preset. This option is enabled by default. Select Include location Info to share your location info along with the edits.

    Copyright

    Displays your profile name. To change your name in copyright, edit your name in your profile.

  4. Tap the confirm icon. A shareable link is displayed that you can copy and share with others. 

You can view and edit the details of your shared edits in the Edits tab of your profile.

The likes you receive on your shared edits are private to you and will not be visible to others.

Follow your favorite photographers

You can choose to follow your favorite photographers in the Lightroom community. The For you tab in the Learn and Discover section displays tutorials and edits based on the posts you like, recent editing activity, and people you choose to follow.

  1. Tap the learn or discover icon.

  2. Tap the For you tab to see recommended tutorials or inspirational edits. You can also scroll down to find FeaturedTrending, and Get inspired posts.

  3. Select the desired tutorial or inspirational edit to view it.

  4. If you like a photographer's work, you can follow their work. Do one of the following to follow an author:

    • Select the post you like, tap the author's name, and then tap Follow. In Discover, you can see the edits from the people you follow in the Following tab.
    • Tap the photo that you like and click on the author's avatar at the top of the screen to follow them.

    The photographers that you follow can be viewed by other Lightroom users.

Block or unblock photographers

Introduced in Lightroom for mobile 6.3 (June 2021 release)

  1. Tap the learn or discover icon.

  2. Tap the author's thumbnail in a post to open the author's profile.

  3. In the author's profile, tap the three-dot icon and select the Block option.

    When you block an author, you will not be able to view their profile and posts. The blocked person will also not be able to view your profile or posts. Blocked authors are not notified when you block them.

  4. To unblock someone, visit your profile, select Blocked list from the three-dot menu and then unblock an author.

Find tutorials and posts from author's profiles

Starting from Lightroom for mobile version 5.1, view profiles of authors who create interactive tutorials and Discover posts. From each of the author profiles, you can find a collated list of their tutorials and edits, and also learn more about them.

  1. Tap the Learn or Discover icon.

  2. Scroll to the desired interactive tutorial or Discover post.

  3. In the thumbnail, tap the author's name.

    Tutorials

    Find tutorials that the author has created.

    Edits

    Find edits that the author has created.

    About

    View details about the author.

    Following

    Find users whom the author is following.

    Followers

    Find who all are following the author.
