Standalone vector file upload

Technical requirements

There are 2 different options for uploading vector files.

Standalone vector file upload (AI, EPS and SVG formats only)

For AI and EPS:

  • Artboard size: minimum 15 MP, maximum 68 MP
  • File size maximum: 45 MB
  • When saving, make sure Create PDF Compatible File is checked.

For SVG:

  • Only version 1.1
  • No requirements on Artboard size
  • File size maximum: 45 MB

If you upload an AI, EPS or SVG file as a standalone vector, you may observe a shift in color when you view your image in the Contributor portal or on the Adobe Stock site. The color shift only impacts the image preview. To avoid this color shift, use the ZIP method described below.

ZIP folder

  • AI and EPS formats only
  • Vectors must be placed in a ZIP archive along with a JPEG preview
  • JPEG preview mimumum resolution: 5,000 pixels x 3,000 pixels or 15MP
  • File size maximum: 45 MB
  • When saving, make sure Create PDF Compatible File is checked.
  • Make sure there are only two files inside each folder (vector file + JPEG preview).

To generate a JPEG preview, we recommend the following steps in Adobe Illustrator CC:

  1. Go to File>Export>Save for web
  2. Preset: JPEG, Maximum, Quality 100%.
  3. Image Size: Insert the required size (15MP)
  4. Save

Title and keywords

If your file doesn't have any keywords embedded, the Stock Contributor portal makes the process easy for you by suggesting up to 25 auto-keywords. You can edit, reorder, or remove these auto-keywords. This feature is a great time-saver.

If you’ve already added keywords in Lightroom Classic CC, Lightroom CC, Bridge, Photoshop, or another image-editing software, the metadata is preserved when you upload your file to the Contributor portal. You can review and edit the keywords before submitting your content.

Do not use trademarked names (examples: Porsche, iPad, or Ferrari), camera specifications (examples: Nikon or 12MP), or types of content (examples: vector or illustration) as keywords or in your title. For more information on keywords, see Titles and keywords.

Legal basics

If you create vector art based on a photograph or a work of art, you must supply a property release, even if the photo or artwork is your own work.

In addition, if your content is drawn from a photo or observation, ask yourself if the person would recognize themselves or the property owner would recognize their property. If a person would recognize themselves, you need a model release. If an owner would recognize their property, investigate whether the item is protected by privacy, trademark, or copyright law, because a property release may be required.

Stock assets must not have logos, trademarks, company names, or brand names (examples: Apple, Nike, Gucci, BMW) or images of copyrighted works, such as art, sculptures, or architecture. We cannot accept Stock assets with these elements.

For more information, see our Legal guidelines.

Quality Standards

For your vector images to have commercial value, we expect them to be:

  • Well-composed
  • Organized, with relevant layer names
  • Free of locked or hidden layers
  • Free of embedded JPEG files

For more information on what makes a quality image, see The review process and Create vector art for Adobe Stock with 7 tips for success.

Be careful not to spam

Don’t try to create an inventory by submitting the same vector art with different colors, backgrounds, and textures. For vector art, we accept up to three color variations of the same image. However, submitting multiple copies of similar or identical content can be perceived as spam by our moderation team. Spamming is strictly prohibited and may prompt us to block your account or close it permanently.
