Add drama and style to your story with animated titles.

Get it moving

Adding motion to a title can help reinforce the creative vision for your stories. Whether you use a simple fade or a more advanced technique like blurring or glowing into a scene, the title’s motion can do as much to tell the story as the words themselves.

Different ways to bring style and animation to your titles

  • Create custom stylized type in either Illustrator or Photoshop, and import the files into After Effects for animation.
  • Animate text letter by letter using one of the more than 80 text-animation presets.
  • Add visual effects to your titles with effects like Camera Lens Blur and Glow.
  • Make text interact with video using the 3D Camera Tracker effect.

Text presets speed up your workflow by providing prebuilt animations. Check out the Effects & Presets panel to search for one by name. Then simply apply the preset directly to a text layer and watch the animation play out. To see letters fade in one at a time, try the Fade Up Characters preset.

You can also create professional-looking visual effects by applying effects to layers. Add keyframes to effect properties to animate them, and add multiple effects to a layer to take things to the next level with custom visual effects.

Create interactive titles with the 3D Camera Tracker effect

Here’s a powerful tool for adding a professional edge to your animation. The 3D Camera Tracker effect analyzes your footage to recreate the camera’s original movements. So when you insert titles and graphics, they’ll track with the objects onscreen.
