Support for ARM-based Windows devices

Learn more about native Windows on ARM (ARM64) builds of Premiere, After Effects, Audition, and Media Encoder, including availability and performance improvements.

Starting with version 26.0, Premiere, After Effects, Audition, and Media Encoder now offer native support for Windows on ARM (ARM64). These applications run directly on Windows systems with Qualcomm Snapdragon X Series ARM architecture-based processors, delivering enhanced responsiveness and performance.

Minimum System Requirements

  • Windows 11 OS Build 26100.2033
  • RAM: 16 GB
  • Qualcomm Adreno GPU driver 31.0.121.1
Note

To update the driver, start by using the Windows Update. If it does not update the driver, download the driver from the Qualcomm website.

Known limitations

Premiere

Premiere runs on all Windows devices that are using Qualcomm Snapdragon X Series ARM architecture-based processors. Some features on Windows Intel devices will not be available when using Premiere on Windows ARM. These features are:

  • Loudness Radar effect (Loudness Meter is a replacement for Loudness Radar)
  • Export to Wraptor DCP
  • Import and export of the GoPro CineForm
  • Export to the P2 Movie format

The following features that are not available in 26.0 but are expected to be added in future versions:

  • Import of MotionJPEG and MKV
  • Support of raw video files including:
    • Apple ProRes RAW
    • ARRI ARRIRAW
    • Canon Cinema RAW Light
    • Sony X-OCN and Sony RAW
    • R3D & Nikon RAW
  • Control Surface: AVID EUCON

After Effects

After Effects now runs on all Qualcomm Snapdragon X-based laptops and tablets, with minor feature differences when running natively on Windows ARM devices. The following features will be added in subsequent releases:

  • Import of MotionJPEG and MKV.
  • Hardware-accelerated export for selected formats. 
  • The Cinema 4D renderer and related C4D features such as Cineware are not yet available.
  • Third-party plug-ins built for Windows on ARM are supported, but plug-ins compiled for Windows on Intel are not compatible.

Audition

Audition runs on all Windows devices using Qualcomm Snapdragon X Series ARM architecture-based processors. However, there are some features of Audition on Windows Intel devices that will not be available when using it on Windows ARM. These features are:

  • Import & Export of GoPro Cineform
  • Loudness Radar effect (Loudness Meter is a replacement for Loudness Radar)
  • ASIO audio hardware support (only ASIO drivers built for Windows on ARM are supported; Intel-based ASIO drivers are not compatible)

The following features that are not available in 26.0 but are expected to be added in future versions:

  • Third-party plug-ins built for Windows on ARM are supported, but plug-ins compiled for Windows on Intel are not compatible.
  • Import of MotionJPEG and MKV
  • Import of any SonyRAW files including X-OCN
  • Import of CanonRAW files
  • Import of ARRIRAW files
  • Import of ProRes RAW files
  • Control Surface: AVID EUCON

Media Encoder

Media Encoder runs on all Windows computers that are using Qualcomm Snapdragon X Series ARM architecture-based processors. Some features of Media Encoder on Windows Intel systems will not be available when using Premiere Pro on Windows ARM, either in beta or in the final release. These features are:

  • Export to Wraptor DCP
  • Import and export of the GoPro CineForm
  • Export to the P2 Movie format

The following features that are not available in 26.0 but are expected to be added in future versions:

  • Support for 3rd party extensions (including plugins and audio plugins)
  • Import of MotionJPEG and MKV
  • Hardware-accelerated export
  • Support of raw video files, including:
    • Apple ProRes RAW
    • ARRI ARRIRAW
    • Canon Cinema RAW Light
    • Sony X-OCN and Sony RAW
Note
  • Importing and exporting RLE Animation MOV files is not supported in Premiere, Media Encoder, After Effects, and Audition.
  • RLE Animation MOV files are imported as audio only.

Are legacy versions compatible?

No. Unsupported versions of Adobe Premiere, Adobe After Effects, Adobe Audition, and Adobe Media Encoder were not designed or tested to work on Windows devices with ARM processors.

Note

Previous version (25.x) of After Effects, Premiere, and Media Encoder runs in Emulation mode.
