Known issues in After Effects

This document provides information on the list of known issues in After Effects

Some fonts do not show in the new font list in the character panel.

Workaround: Use the following steps:

Open Photoshop, select the Impact Regular font and type text.
Copy the text, switch to After Effects and paste the text.

When you use tsv files in the data-driven workflows, specifically with German (but this impacts any language that uses a comma instead of a decimal), excel saves tsv files as txt files.

Workaround: Manually change the extension to .tsv or use another spreadsheet tool.

After Effects does not allow you to copy Master Properties and keyframes to other properties or layers

Workaround: There is no known workaround for this issue.

When you modify a master property for an audio effect or property such as Tone, the audio playback does not reflect the changes.

Workaround: There is no known workaround for this issue.

When you edit original a CSV or TSV file in Microsoft Excel while it is opened in After Effects, the data properties of the files can disappear in the Timeline panel. You can also get an error message, “Data File Unable to open input file ( 39 :: 0 ).” The issue occurs because Excel blocks access to the CSV or TSV file while you edit it in Excel, and After Effects can read the file only after Excel releases control.

Workaround: There is no known workaround for this issue.

When you import a .jsx file by dragging the file from the Finder or Explorer to the Project panel, you can receive an error message, "file already exists at the destination."

Workaround: There is no known workaround for this issue.

When your project is set to Mercury GPU Acceleration and you have installed GPU driver from Nvidia instead of macOS native GPU driver, the Glow effect can render incorrectly.

Workaround: Set video rendering in Project Settings > Video Rendering & Effects > Use to Mercury Software Only. After you click OK, set the video rendering back to Mercury GPU Acceleration.

When you apply the Pixel Motion blur effect to your footage, video playback can stop working.

Workaround: There is no known workaround for this issue.

Premiere Pro may render a Motion Graphics template incorrectly if a non-spatial 2D property, example, Scale or the Point Control effect in the template uses an expression to link its value to a 2D spatial property, example, Position.

Workaround: In the Timeline panel, use the pick whip to link the non-spatial 2D property to another non-spatial 2D property, or two individual single-dimensional properties such as Slider expression control effects.

When you launch After Effects, you could receive the following error: "After Effects warning: The following plugins failed to load. Please reinstall these plugins: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Common\Plug-ins\7.0\MediaCore\Mettle."
