Learn how to use Adobe Camera Raw's AI-powered Blemishes option to automatically remove skin blemishes, freckles, and other spots from your photos.
Portraits often come with small spots or marks like blemishes, moles, or a scattering of freckles that you may want to soften, adjust, or remove entirely. The AI-powered Blemishes option in the Remove panel detects these marks in a photo and automatically cleans up the skin in just a few clicks.
Remove blemishes automatically
In the Remove panel, select Blemishes from the Distraction Removal section, and then select Apply. Camera Raw automatically detects the blemishes, moles, freckles, and other marks on one or multiple faces in your photo and removes them.
In the Blemishes option, you can drag the following sliders:
- Amount: Control the strength of the blemish removal. A higher value removes more of the blemish, mole, or mark; a lower value retains more of the original texture and detail.
- Fade: Control how visible moles, freckles, and other marks remain after removal. Lower the Fade value to bring back some of the original marks for a more natural look; increase it to fade them out further.
If your photo has multiple people, select the specific face you want to edit, or select All People to apply the same adjustments to everyone in the photo.
Refine blemish removal
To manually brush over specific areas and fine-tune the blemish removal, do the following:
In the Blemishes option, select Refine, adjust the size of your brush using the Size slider, and then do any of the following:
- Select Restore, and then brush over an area to bring back the original blemish, mole, or mark. It is useful if the AI removes something you want to retain, such as a beauty mark or a freckle.
- Select Remove, and then brush over an area to erase a blemish, mole, or mark that wasn't automatically detected or removed.
If your photo has multiple people, select the specific face you want to refine, or select All People to apply the same refinements to everyone in the photo.
Once you have the preferred changes, select Apply.
