Learn how to create accessible eLearning content by generating AI transcripts for closed captions and voice-overs in Adobe Captivate.

Overview

Closed captions make your eLearning courses more inclusive by providing on-screen text for learners who may have hearing impairments or prefer reading along. In Adobe Captivate, the Generate transcript feature can be used to quickly create captions and sync them with audio narration.

  • Captions are automatically synced to the slide timeline.
  • Optionally generate AI voice narration to match captions.

Add transcripts as closed captions

Follow these steps to generate transcripts and use them for closed captions or voice-over using AI voices:

  1. To create transcript text for the slide, select Generate transcript from either the Generative AI menu or the Audio settings in the properties panel.

  2. Use additional prompts or the suggested actions to improve the transcript. Once you're satisfied with the result, select Add transcript to automatically convert it into closed captions and insert them into the timeline.

    When you add the transcript, the Closed Captions timeline automatically opens with captions aligned to the slide. You can fine-tune the duration of each caption using the playhead

  3. Edit the closed captions for the slide as needed. You can now export them in SRT or VTT format. Learn more about how to work with closed captions in Captivate. 

Generate audio with AI voices

After adding the transcript as closed captions, you can generate its audio using AI-generated or system voices. These voices offer various accents, languages, tones, and speaking styles to match your audience.

  1. Generate the transcript for a slide and add it as closed captions.

  2. Select an AI voice to generate text-to-speech. Learn more on how to generate text-to-speech using AI voices in Captivate.

  3. Select Generate Audio in the Closed Captions timeline to apply the voice-over.
