"Error during Purchase" or "Cannot connect to store" | Digital Publishing Suite


When you try to purchase a folio or subscription on an iPad, you get the error "Error during purchase. Please try again later." or "Cannot connect to store." It's possible this issue also applies to cases where the application reports the error, "Cannot Install Item. Please restart the app and download your purchase again."


 Sign out of the iTunes store, then sign in during your purchase.

  1. From the home screen, tap the Settings app to launch it.
  2. Tap on the Store icon in the left pane of settings.
  3. Scroll to the bottom where your Apple ID appears on a button and tap it.
  4. Tap the Sign Out button.
  5. Launch your publication viewer app.
  6. Click Buy or Subscribe to make the purchase.
  7. When prompted for which account type to use, tap Existing Apple ID.
  8. Enter the same Apple ID credentials that you logged out of in step 4.

Additional information

 Other variations of this solution, which appear to be successful, include the following:

  • Log out in Settings > Store, then log back in from the same location. Then make your purchase.
  • Instead of tapping Sign Out button, type the iForgot button and reset your password. Then log back in and make your purchase.
