Learn how to use Adobe Captivate's AI-powered transcript generation feature to create accessible content, narration scripts, and closed captions for your eLearning courses.
Overview
Transcripts are text versions of spoken or on-screen content that capture key information in text form. In eLearning, they connect what learners see on slides with what they hear in audio. Adobe Captivate's AI reads your slide content and creates natural transcripts automatically.
Transcripts in Captivate
Transcripts in Captivate help speed up course creation while ensuring accessibility and consistency. Here’s how you can use it:
- Narration and voice-over scripts: Use transcripts as ready-made scripts for AI avatars or AI-generated voices. This ensures consistent tone, natural delivery, and eliminates the need for manual recordings or external voice actors.
 - Accessibility with closed captions: Apply transcripts directly as closed captions to meet accessibility standards and provide inclusive learning opportunities for all learners.
 - Slide summaries and reinforcement: Refine transcripts using generative text prompts to create concise slide summaries, reinforce learning objectives, or provide quick recaps for learners.
 - Faster content creation: Instructional designers and eLearning creators save significant time when creating compliance training, onboarding modules, and other large-scale courses.

- Enable Generate transcript in Generative AI preferences.
 - Ensure you have an active internet connection.
 - Ensure there are sufficient generative credits.

Generate a transcript
Generate a transcript that transforms your slide content into clear, natural-sounding text. You can then refine it using additional prompts to generate summaries or dialogues tailored to your audience. The transcript can also be used as the basis for closed captions, narration scripts, or voiceovers.
To use the Generate transcript feature, make sure no objects on the slide are selected. It only works at the slide level, so click outside the slide area to activate it.

Select Add transcript. This action adds the generated transcript as closed captions and opens the Closed Captions panel, where you can adjust the caption's timing using the playhead or change the voice.

For best results, pick slides with plenty of text content. Slides with minimal text, such as headings, may produce less detailed transcripts.
Uses of transcripts
After generating a transcript for your slide, you can use it in two ways:
- Add it as closed captions with an audio voiceover using AI voices.
 - Generate AI avatar video: Copy the transcript and use it as the narration script for your AI avatar. The avatar can deliver your script naturally, ensuring your spoken and on-screen content stay in sync. This eliminates the need to write separate scripts, keeping your course tone consistent.
