Organize fonts using Creative Cloud Libraries

Learn how to use Creative Cloud Libraries in Adobe Illustrator to manage fonts better.

The font browser lets you organize fonts using Creative Cloud Libraries. You can add fonts to existing Libraries or create specific font Libraries directly within the font browser.

Organize fonts better by adding them to Creative Cloud Libraries, and access them easily across Creative Cloud apps.

Add fonts to a new or existing Library

Select Window > Type > Character to open the Character panel.

Select the Set the font family dropdown to open the font browser.

In the Your Fonts or Discover More tab, hover over the font or font family you want to add to a Library, then select Add to Library   .

Do one of the following:

  • To add to a new Library, select Add to new Library.
  • To add to an existing Library, hover over it, and then select   .
Note

You can add a font to multiple Libraries.

Remove fonts from a Library

Select Window > Type > Character to open the Character panel.

Select the Set the font family dropdown to open the font browser, and then switch to the Libraries tab.

To sort the Libraries, select Sort Font Libraries   , and then select Date modified   or Name   .  

Select the Library from which you want to remove the font or font family.

Hover over the target font or font family, and then select Delete font from Library   .

Create and manage font Libraries

You can use the Libraries tab to manage all font Libraries:

Select Window > Type > Character to open the Character panel.

Select the Set the font family dropdown to open the font browser, and then switch to the Libraries tab.

To create a Library, select New   and type a name.

To rename a Library, hover over it, and then select   .

To delete a Library or its fonts at once, hover over the Library, and then select   :

  • If the Library only contains fonts, the Library will be deleted regardless of its origin.
  • If the Library also contains other assets, all the fonts will be deleted, but the Library will remain. If you had created it in the font browser, it will continue to appear in the Libraries tab. 

To delete a Library with multiple assets, use the Libraries panel.

Note
  • You can't rename or delete the Libraries shared with you.
  • You can't share Libraries from the font browser Libraries tab. To share a Library, use the Libraries panel.
