Learn how to edit photos by adjusting Color in Lightroom Classic. 

Use the Mixer and Point Color panels in the Develop module to fine-tune individual color ranges in your photo. For instance, if a red object appears too bright or distracting, adjust the Saturation slider for Red to tone it down. Keep in mind that this change affects all similar reds throughout the photo.

Both panels, Mixer and Point Color, offer similar adjustment options, but they organize their sliders differently. To open either panel, select its name from the Color Mixer panel.

Edit your images with Mixer

  1. Open an image in the Develop module.

  2. Select Edit > Color Mixer > Mixer.

  3. In the Mixer tab, select HSL or Color Tone from the Adjust drop-down.

  4. In the HSL panel, drag the following sliders or enter values.

    • Hue: Adjusts the tone of each color and shifts it to a different shade. For example, you can change a blue sky (and all other blue areas) from cyan to purple.

    • Saturation: Adjusts the color vividness or purity of a color. 
    • Luminance: Adjusts the brightness of a color range.

    Drag the sliders left and right to set the intensity.

  5. In the Color panel, drag the sliders of the colors or enter values.

  6. Select the Targeted Adjustment tool  in the panel, and move the pointer over an area in the photo that you want to adjust, and then click. Drag the pointer, or press the Up and Down Arrow keys to make the adjustment.

Edit your images with Point Color

  1. Open an image in the Develop module.

  2. Select Edit > Color Mixer > Point Color.

  3. In Point Color, Select Eyedropper   to select a color in your photo for precise color refinements.

    • Hue Shift: Adjusts the color tone of the selected range, shifting it along the color spectrum.
    • Saturation Shift: Controls the intensity of the selected color range, making it more vivid or muted.
    • Luminance Shift: Changes the brightness of the selected color range, making it lighter or darker.
    • Variance: Determines how broadly or narrowly the adjustment affects similar colors.
    • Range: Sets the limits of colors included in the adjustment.

  4. Select the Visualize Range checkbox to highlight the affected areas in the image to preview the adjustment more clearly.
