As of April 2022, Starter plan users will have two opportunities to try out the full capabilities of XD at no cost for 7 days. Upon canceling the trial, you will return to the Starter plan. 

Yes, Starter plan remains available for people learning UI/UX design who have limited needs to share or collaborate with others. 

You can access the Starter plan by launching XD manually (from Windows start menu or macOS Dock/Launchpad).

The Starter plan usage limits on linked libraries are:

  • View and use assets from a linked library: unlimited.
  • Publish and update assets to a linked library: available in paid plans only.

The Starter plan continues to include unlimited use of design and prototyping features, using assets from linked libraries, as well as use of both cloud and local documents.

Your existing published libraries continue to be available to view and use. You can continue to invite others to your existing libraries, and anyone you previously invited continues to have access to these assets. If you need to publish updates or a new library, you’ll need to upgrade to a paid plan.

Yes, you can follow an unlimited number of libraries and receive updates when content changes.

Yes, you’ll still be able to use assets from libraries published outside of XD.

Yes, you can receive an unlimited number of invites to linked libraries and receive updates when content changes.

Within XD, click Libraries in the toolbar and open the Document Assets panel view. Click the Publish icon   to open the Libraries manager. Your published linked libraries are listed in the Libraries manager.

Within XD, on macOS, click XD > About XD. On Windows, click Help > About XD. You can see the word Starter next to the version.

  • Share links: 1 active shared link.
  • Invite to document: 1 active shared document, with up to 2 co-editors.
  • Export designs to PDF up to two times.
  • Export video recordings of prototypes up to two times – macOS only.
  • Linked libraries: unlimited view and use of assets. Publishing is only on paid plans.

If you create and share a document, you count as a co-editor. Each additional person you invite to your document also counts as a co-editor.
