Team Projects - Archived Files Recovery / Common questions
This document is intended to answer general questions related to the recovery of Team Projects files created during the Beta trial version.

Summary

On November 16, Team Projects pre-release or Beta project data, over 40 days old, was deleted. Team Projects that were not edited or modified in a client application (Premiere Pro or After Effects) after Oct 7, 2017, may no longer contain sequences, Team Projects history, or other project information. There is no impact on projects created with Team Projects 1.0. Team Projects stores a copy of your project on your computer, in most cases, you should be able to restore lost production data and resynchronize to Team Projects.

FAQ

During routine maintenance to clean up our servers, files stored in the Beta version of Team Projects, that were 40 days old or more, were deleted in error. Projects created in Team Project 1.0 were not affected.

Affected projects either do not open, or if they do open, will not synchronize to the server. Affected projects may also have missing sequences or version history.

  1. Turn on the computer that was used to access the Team Project.

  2. Log in using the same user profile that was used when you accessed the Team Project.

    Note:

If multiple Creative Cloud (CC) users were logged into the same OS account, the recovery tool recovers all Team Projects, and also removes the Creative Cloud (CC) user ID information. If different OS users were using on a single machine, the recovery tool must be run for each OS account.

  3. For Windows:

    1. Download the Recovery tool.
    2. Unzip the archive.
    3. Select the TeamProjectsRecovery folder and double click TeamProjectsRecovery.exe.
  4. For macOS:

    1. Download the Recovery tool.
    2. Unzip the archive.
    3. Select the TeamProjectsRecovery folder, and double click Run Team Projects Recovery.

  5. Open the Team Project files using Premiere Pro or After Effects (using the same version).

  6. It will take some time for this Team Project to fully synchronize with the Team Project Service. Once synchronized, you can share the changes, and invite collaborators.

    Note:

The recovered Team Project contains only the last-saved state of the project on the local computer, and only for the user who was logged in at the time. It does not recover previously shared Team Project history or any other unshared changes made by other collaborators. The current user owns the recovered Team Project. Re-invite all collaborators who worked on the project.

No.

The core project data should be available. However, version history will not be available. You need to re-invite collaborators to the project after the files have been successfully resynchronized.

Team Projects is set to sync to a local computer, not a local server. If that is not the case, contact your systems administrator.

It depends on how your lab computers are set up.

  • If the lab computers only save local data for a period, contact the lab administrator and attempt to follow the process provided above.
  • If you have an external storage device where you store all of your lab files on, follow steps 1-6 mentioned above to restore the files.
  • If your lab automatically deletes files from the computer, and this was the only local copy of your data, unfortunately the data is lost.
