The Touch App Plug-ins installer available through the Creative Cloud desktop app does not allow you to import Photoshop Touch files into Photoshop CC. It does support importing Touch files into Photoshop CS6. To import Photoshop Touch files into Photoshop CC, download and install the import plug-in manually.

Install the plug-in

  1. Download the zip file appropriate to your operating system from the link above.
  2. Unzip the downloaded file by right-clicking (Windows) or Command-clicking (Mac OS) and choosing an extract command.
  3. The zip file only contains a single file, AdobePSDXLoader.8BI. The file is in a folder named File Formats.
  4. Close Photoshop CC.
  5. Place the File Formats folder containing the AdobePSDXLoader.8BI file in the following location, depending on your operating system and installed versions of Photoshop CC.

Note: If you have both the 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Photoshop CC installed, place the importer plug-in in each Photoshop CC installation separately.

Location for the plug-in

Windows 7, Windows 8

(32-bit version)
C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CC\Plug-ins\File Formats

(64-bit version)
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CC (64 Bit)\Plug-ins\Files Formats

For Mac OS X 10.7 or later (only 64 bit)
Mac HD/Applications/Adobe Photoshop CC/Plug-ins/File Formats

Note: You can create additional copies of the AdobePSDXLoader.8BI if necessary by unzipping the again.

Confirm proper installation

  1. Launch Photoshop CC.
  2. Choose File > Open.
  3. In the Files Of Type field at the bottom, confirm that .PSDX is in the list of supported file types.
