Select raster layers, and not text layers, smart objects (unless rasterized), and vector shapes. |

Firewall, Proxy, VPN |
Some users report that firewalls or VPNs can block Adobe AI services, so you may need to whitelist URLs such as .adobe.com and .firefly.adobe.com. |

Why is Generative Fill greyed out?
Generative Fill is disabled when working with an unsupported file type or selection.
- Use RGB mode.
- Work with an 8-bit file (not 16- or 32-bit).
- Make an active selection on the image.
- Work on an unlocked, raster layer (not a smart object).
Why does Photoshop crash or freeze while using Generative Fill?
Photoshop crashes or freezes while using Generative Fill due to system incompatibility or a GPU issue.
- Update the GPU drivers.
- Select Preferences > Performance, and then switch GPU acceleration on or off.
- Reinstall Photoshop if the issue persists.
Why can't I use Generative Fill without credits?
Generative Fill is unavailable without generative credits.
- Log in to account.adobe.com and check your credit balance.
- Upgrade to a plan that includes more credits.
- Wait for the monthly renewal.
