Acrobat or Acrobat Reader crashes on macOS after updating to version 21.007.20091

Problem: Acrobat or Acrobat Reader crashes on macOS after updating to the latest version 21.007.20091

After you install the September 2021 update of Acrobat or Acrobat Reader, when you open a PDF document, Acrobat or Acrobat Reader crashes after 10 to 15 seconds on macOS.

Applicable versions

  • Acrobat (version 2021.007.20091 and later)
  • Acrobat Reader (version 2021.007.20091 and later)

Solution: Reinstall the latest version of e-Token

Acrobat or Acrobat Reader crashes if the e-Token you are using is old and incompatible with the latest version of Acrobat or Acrobat Reader version 2021.007.20091 and later. Do the following and install the latest version of e-Token:

  1. Download the e-Token driver from the issuer's website, and then install the e-Token driver.

    Note:

Contact your e-Token provider to get the latest version.

  2. Go to Acrobat > Preferences, or Acrobat Reader > Preferences.

  3. Under Categories, select Signatures. In the Identities & Trusted Certificates section, click More.

Click More in the Identities & Trusted location section

  4. In the Digital ID & Trusted Identities Settings window, select PKCS11# Modules and Tokens, and then click Attach Module.

    Attach module

  5. Enter the correct library path, and then click OK.

    Enter the library path

  6. Select e-Token PKCS#11, and then click Login. Enter your e-Token password when prompted. Your e-Token is now reinstalled and the new module is attached.
