Message Templates Overview and Enablement
Save time and standardize agreement messages with reusable templates.
Message templates let you save and reuse the global email message included when sending an agreement. They help maintain agreement consistency and reduce the time needed to compose frequently used instructions or context.
Templates can be used when composing a new agreement or sending with Send in Bulk. They are not used in the Workflow Designer or Web Forms.
Benefits
- Reuse common agreement messages.
- Maintain consistent language and branding.
- Reduce errors with pre-approved messaging.
- Speed up the sending process.
- Organize templates at the account or group level.
Configuration
Availability
- Acrobat Standard and Acrobat Pro: Not Supported
- Acrobat Sign Solutions: Supported
- Acrobat Sign for Government: Supported
Configuration scope
Message templates can be configured at the account and group levels.
To access the Message Templates configuration, log in as an admin, navigate to your admin menu, and select the Message Templates option.
Configurable options are:
Enabling this option adds a Message Template link over the Message field on the Compose page.
If disabled, the link is absent.
Enabling this option permits the sender to edit the pre-configured message freely.
If disabled, the sender has no ability to alter the message.
Permissions and visibility
- Who can configure message templates: Only administrators can create or manage message templates. Non-admin users cannot access the configuration interface.
- Who can use templates: Any sender can apply available templates when composing an agreement.
- Scope control:
- Account-level templates are visible to all groups.
- Group-level templates are only available when sending and agreement from that group.
- Localization relationship:
- Message Templates are tied to the agreement’s Recipients' language setting.
- Set the Recipient's language in the Agreement settings section of the Compose page
- Message Templates are only available when the Recipients' language matches the template’s locale.
- Acrobat Sign does not translate message content. To support multiple languages, create and save a separate template for each Language.
Things to keep in mind:
- Message Templates don't include the subject line. Only the global message is used.
- Message Templates aren't available for the Workflow Designer or Web Forms.
- Message Templates don't apply automatically—senders must select them manually.
- Each template is tied to a specific language. Acrobat Sign does not provide translation.
